Recently, the film’s title captured special interest as the news of a real ‘Jawan’ starring in the movie went viral. Yes, you read that right – a real soldier – Sangay Tsheltrim – starred in Shah Rukh Khan’s movie.
How did Sangay make his entry into the world of Bollywood?
In ‘Jawan,’ Sangay takes on the role of Juju, a police officer. For those unfamiliar with his background, Sangay served in the Bhutanese Army nearly two decades ago. He once shared a pic donning his uniform, accompanied by a heartfelt caption: ‘The best thing that happened in my life was wearing this uniform. Sangay debuted in Salman Khan’s ‘Radhe’. He played a negative character in the film and recollected, “Even in my Bollywood debut, nothing was planned. It was my destiny and Salman sir’s kindness that I got the offer.”

Reflecting on his unconventional career trajectory, Sangay remarked, “I think my entire transition from being a young kid to being an army officer to a bodybuilder led me to become an actor. It wasn’t my dream or ambition to become an actor, I accidentally landed into the field of acting.”
How Sangay Found His First Role In Bollywood?
So, how did Sangay find his way into Bollywood, you ask? According to India.com, Sangay once disclosed that a friend introduced him to Salman Khan. “Never had I met celebrities in my life and he is such a big star. I was very nervous. He was very kind to make me feel comfortable. Looking at me, he knew I was a bodybuilder. And we chatted on common subjects. I loved his sense of humour.”
“After two months, I got a call in Bhutan about this movie (Radhe). That is how I signed up for the project and landed in Bollywood.”
Sangay On Working With Shah Rukh Khan
It was in September 2021 that Sangay crossed paths with Shah Rukh Khan for the first time on the sets of ‘Jawan.’
Revealing the memorable encounter, he shared with E-times, “The moment he saw me, he shook my hand, gave me a hug, and said, ‘Sangay, Welcome on board and thank you very much for accepting the role.’ That really touched my heart. He is a good learner. I’ve seen Vijay Sethupathi suggesting some scenes to sir, and he took that.”

Commenting on Shah Rukh Khan’s action sequences, Sangay added, “I saw those action scenes that he has done, and for his age, he is very good with it… Shah Rukh sir is just a fabulous actor.”
