Recently, the film’s title captured special interest as the news of a real ‘Jawan’ starring in the movie went viral. Yes, you read that right – a real soldier – Sangay Tsheltrim – starred in Shah Rukh Khan’s movie.
How did Sangay make his entry into the world of Bollywood?
In ‘Jawan,’ Sangay takes on the role of Juju, a police officer. For those unfamiliar with his background, Sangay served in the Bhutanese Army nearly two decades ago. He once shared a pic donning his uniform, accompanied by a heartfelt caption: ‘The best thing that happened in my life was wearing this uniform. I felt different, I felt honored, I still feel proud and blessed. Once a soldier, always a soldier. The Royal Bodyguards 2008-2013.’
Sangay eventually made the life-changing decision to leave the army and concentrate on his career in bodybuilding. Acting, however, entered his life unexpectedly, with his inaugural appearance occurring in Salman Khan’s film ‘Radhe.’
Which was Sangay’s first movie?
Sangay debuted in Salman Khan’s ‘Radhe’. He played a negative character in the film and recollected, “Even in my Bollywood debut, nothing was planned. It was my destiny and Salman sir’s kindness that I got the offer.”
Reflecting on his unconventional career trajectory, Sangay remarked, “I think my entire transition from being a young kid to being an army officer to a bodybuilder led me to become an actor. It wasn’t my dream or ambition to become an actor, I accidentally landed into the field of acting.”
How Sangay Found His First Role In Bollywood?
So, how did Sangay find his way into Bollywood, you ask? According to India.com, Sangay once disclosed that a friend introduced him to Salman Khan. “Never had I met celebrities in my life and he is such a big star. I was very nervous. He was very kind to make me feel comfortable. Looking at me, he knew I was a bodybuilder. And we chatted on common subjects. I loved his sense of humour.”
“After two months, I got a call in Bhutan about this movie (Radhe). That is how I signed up for the project and landed in Bollywood.”
