It feels like ages since we saw King Khan on the big screen. Shah Rukh Khan’s fans across the world are excited to see him in a movie again. After almost 4 years, SRK can be seen in the movie ‘Rocketry’, which was released on 1st July.
The movie that marks the directorial debut of R Madhavan has Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo role. SRK was last seen in the 2018 movie Zero, which also starred Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.
In ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’, Shah Rukh Khan is seen playing the role of a journalist. The film sees Madhavan as a rocket scientist Nambi Narayanan and chronicles his journey. Shot simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi, and English, the film has cameos by Suriya (in Tamil version) and Shah Rukh Khan (in Hindi and English versions) as a journalist interviewing Nambi.
SRK’s fans are excited that even though it was a small role, he created an impact in the movie.

What’s more! During a recent movie promotion event in Delhi, Madhavan mentioned that SRK didn’t even charge a penny for his role. Madhavan mentioned,
“I mentioned ‘Rocketry’ to Shah Rukh Khan Sahab when I worked with him in ‘Zero’ …he vividly remembered that during one of his birthday parties, he asked me about the film’s status and expressed his desire to be a part of the film. ‘Mujhe background me koi bhi role chalega main is film ka hissa hona chahta hu’, Khan Sahab told me. I thought he was joking. Two days later, my wife Sarita asked me to thank Khan Sahab for his kind words. I dropped a message to Khan Sahab’s manager asking her to convey my gratitude to him, and I instantly got a text from the manager saying, ‘khan Sahab dates puch the hai shoot ki’.. and that’s how he became a part of our film….
The two (SRK and Suriya) did not charge a single penny for their work in the film. They did not charge anything for caravans, costumes, and assistants. Suriya flew out to shoot in Mumbai with his crew on his own money. He did not charge for the flights or the dialogue writer who translated his lines in Tamil.”
Rocketry was shot in five countries and released in six languages worldwide, including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
While we saw Shah Rukh Khan for only 10 minutes after 4 years, we won’t have to wait long to watch him next. His next film Pathaan, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, releases in January 2023.
