A one-of-a-kind incident unfolded in Bollywood when an apparently unfinished movie was released in theaters. Yes, you read it right – an incomplete film. If multiple reports are to be believed, Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar’s movie, ‘The Lady Killer,’ was allegedly unfinished, and the makers released it in theaters on November 3.
The first poster of the movie was released just a week before the movie hit the theaters. And, do you know that just a week ago, the makers announced the release date and released the movie on November 3? It sounds unbelievable, right? As per many reports, The Lady Killer is the first reportedly incomplete movie released in theatres.
The makers went ahead and released the movie without any promotion or information. For the unversed, the movie is directed by Ajay Bahl – who has also directed movies like ‘BA Pass’ and ‘Section 375.’ The movie, produced by Shailesh R Singh and Sahil Mirchandani, was released this Friday, and the box office collections have left everyone stunned.”

Why has an unfished film been released?
According to some reports, the movie ended up going beyond its budget, and the producers were reluctant to invest more money. Originally planned with a budget of Rs 45 crores, they needed an additional Rs 4-5 crores to continue filming. To tackle this financial challenge, they had to make some clever choices during the post-production and editing phases to work with the existing footage.
On the other hand, a few reports mentioned that heavy rains in Uttarakhand disrupted the shoot for only 5-10 days.
In order to meet their contractual obligations with Netflix, they decided to release an unfinished version. About 80 percent of the movie has been fully shot, while the remaining 20 percent has been addressed through the use of voiceovers and text adjustments.
In another report, Bollywood Hungama mentioned, “Over 10 days of shoot was pending, and producers decided to stall the shoot because the film was over budget. They have played smartly on the edit table to make sense of all the stuff that was shot. The film is being released only because a digital deal is locked and the same has to be delivered to their digital partner post-theatrical release.”
Since, the makers already have a contract with an OTT streaming platform, reportedly Netflix, they have released the unfinished movie to adhere to the contract. “Now the contracts are signed and to get the money, the film has to be released on the big screen,” the source added.
