In the fast-paced world of Bollywood, anticipation often runs high for the release of new movies that promise to captivate and entertain audiences. From intriguing trailers to star-studded casts, there are numerous reasons why certain films become highly anticipated events for moviegoers across the nation. However, in recent times, not all movies have lived up to the soaring expectations they generate.
Despite the initial hype, some Bollywood films have left audiences not just disappointed but brutally so, leaving them pondering what went wrong. Here are recent Bollywood movies that had everyone eagerly waiting, only to fall short of delivering the cinematic brilliance they promised.
1. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan
Many people were excited about Salman Khan’s much-awaited movie – Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. But, the movie turned out to be so bad that many asked Salman Khan to stop taking his fans for granted. Many movie lovers and critics alike called this Salman Khan starrer – torture. The massive failure of this movie at the box office reinforces the notion that the audience has moved on from stupid filmmaking.
2. Adipurush
One of the costliest Bollywood movies of all time, Adipurush, left the audience not only disappointed but angry too. How the makers of this movie missed a golden opportunity to present our epic Ramayana is simply heartbreaking. With horrible VFX and awful dialogues, Adipurush is one of India’s biggest disasters of recent times.
3. Shehzada
After the success of Bhool Bhulaiya 2, everyone was excited about Kartik Aryan’s Shehzada. Given the fact that the movie was a remake of the super-successful Telugu hit “Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo”, people were hoping that it will repeat the success like the original. But, unfortunately, this remake failed to leave any impression at the box office.
4. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar
Even after having a super talented star cast of Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, Luv Ranjan’s film fail to live up to the hype. The movie tends to perpetuate a misogynistic idea, where a woman’s concerns are deemed baseless, and she is expected to give up her belief system for her boyfriend.
This film once again highlights Ranjan’s portrayal of men as superior beings and women as manipulative and self-centered. Though the movie may have managed to earn decent at the box office, the movie left many fans disappointed. With its prevalent misogyny and sexism, this movie failed to live up to the hype it created.
5. Satyaprem Ki Katha
After the success of Bhool Bhulaiya 2, when the superhit Jodi of Kiara Advani and Kartik Aaryan announced their return in Satyaprem Ki Katha, many were super-excited. But, unfortunately, the movie failed to entertain the audience and couldn’t live up to the hype.
6. Bloody Daddy
Another movie that left the audience disappointed was Shahid Kapoor’s Bloody Daddy. After giving us a much loved Farzi series, when Shahid announced that he will be returning on OTT with the movie Bloody Daddy, we all got excited. But, unfortunately, the movie was not even a cinch closer to Shahid’s Farzi and left the audience disappointed.
7. Bawaal
When the maker of Dangaal, Chichhore, Nitin Tiwari announced the movie Bawaal, many were super-excited. But, how Nitin Tiwari missed the mark with this Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer is so disappointing. The movie is not only boring but quite insensitive at multiple instances.
With the passing months, the list of the Bollywood movies that left the audience disappointed is growing much faster than the movies that left the fans excited and surprised.
