The year 2023 has undoubtedly been a rollercoaster ride for movie fans, with a barrage of high-octane action thrillers gracing the silver screen. From the highly anticipated ‘Gadar 2’ and the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Pathaan’ to the adrenaline-pumping ‘Jawaan,’ it has been a whirlwind of larger-than-life action sequences and heart-pounding drama.
While these films boast dedicated fan bases, it’s increasingly clear that Bollywood’s current obsession with action thrillers may be reaching a saturation point.
As audiences, we’ve witnessed so many car chases, gravity-defying stunts, and endless explosions and now we are tired. However, as Bollywood continues to rely on action movies – with this formula for box office success, the industry is becoming so repetitive that many are losing their excitement for upcoming big-budget movies like ‘Tiger 3,’ ‘Animal,’ ‘Fighter,’ and more.
In case you’re not aware, Bollywood is set to bombard us with not one, not two, not three, but six action-packed big-budget thrillers. Let’s pause and reflect on some of the upcoming and recently released action thrillers like ‘Animal,’ ‘Tiger 3,’ ‘Ganpath,’ ‘Yodha,’ ‘Bade Miyan Chotte Miyan,’ and ‘Fighter,’ and ponder whether Bollywood can strike a balance between action and diversity in storytelling.
Recently, the teaser of ‘Animal,’ featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in this action thriller, left many of us wondering, ‘How much more action can there be? Enough!’
Unfortunately, the ‘Tiger’ franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, known for its action-packed escapades, received a lukewarm reaction to its teaser. Another reminder for Bollywood not to kill the excitement with an overdose of action thrillers.
Starring Tiger Shroff & Kriti Sanon, ‘Ganpath’ is another action thriller set to release on 20th October. Seriously, who is even interested? *Yawn Yawn*
Siddharth Malhotra’s ‘Yodha’ is yet another action thriller hitting the screens. However, its success amidst the sea of action thrillers makes us wonder, ‘How much more action?’
Another Tiger Shroff and Akshay Kumar action movie – ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan – leaves us pondering who will still be excited for this after watching so many action films in the span of a few months.
Next on the list of action thrillers is ‘Figher,’ which stars Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. Can someone please explain to us why everyone in Bollywood suddenly wants to do action?
With an endless series of action movies, it appears that Bollywood may have forgotten about producing films of different genres. Are you, like us, bored of action thrillers? Don’t you believe there is an urgent need for Bollywood to recognize the importance of variety and depth in storytelling?
The industry possesses a pool of talent capable of delivering not only heart-pounding action but also compelling narratives that resonate with audiences on a deeper level. Bollywood, are you listening?
