Sometimes, the decision to skip a movie at the theater can be a wise one, sparing you from disappointment and a hefty ticket price. Recently, when “Dream Girl 2” was released on Netflix, I felt it was a great idea not to watch the movie in theaters. Here are the reasons why I believe choosing not to watch “Dream Girl 2” in theaters might have been a good call for many of us. From underwhelming performances to humor that doesn’t quite measure up, here are five compelling reasons why some moviegoers may be relieved they didn’t catch this sequel on the big screen.
Zero Comedy In Comparison to the Original
While sequels often generate a lot of buzz, they also come with the challenging task of living up to the comedic brilliance of the original film, and “Dream Girl 2” is no exception. However, it misses the mark when it comes to delivering the same level of humor that made the original a hit. The humor in the sequel may feel forced or simply lacks the freshness and wit that made the original such a great watch.
Too Stretched
While “Dream Girl” was a smooth ride, the pacing of “Dream Girl 2” is rather disappointing. The film’s plot feels overly stretched, with scenes that could have been tightened to maintain viewer engagement. This stretched narrative makes you disinterested, making it a good choice for those who opted not to watch it in theaters.
Not Ayushmann Khurrana’s Best Performance
Ayushmann Khurrana is known for his versatile and engaging performances, contributing to his reputation as one of Bollywood’s most talented actors. However, in “Dream Girl 2,” Ayushmann is not at his best. He didn’t quite bring his A-game to this role. Whether it’s due to a lackluster script, uninspiring character development, or perhaps just an off day, Ayushmann’s portrayal in this sequel doesn’t shine as brightly as in his previous roles, leaving us yearning for the actor’s usual charm and brilliance.
Ananya Panday Can’t Act
Ananya Panday’s acting abilities have been a topic of debate, and her performance in “Dream Girl 2” failed to impress. Her lack of screen presence and flat dialogue delivery makes her portrayal fall short in terms of depth and emotional range, leaving us wanting more in the way of a convincing performance.
Lack Lustre Dialogues
A well-crafted screenplay with memorable dialogues is often a key ingredient in the success of a Bollywood film. Unfortunately, “Dream Girl 2” falls short in this department, with its dialogues failing to leave a lasting impact. At some points, the film’s dialogues lacked the wit and cleverness that made the original “Dream Girl” a comedy sensation. Instead, the dialogue in the sequel may come across as dull, predictable, or stale at times. This dearth of clever and humorous exchanges can significantly diminish the overall comedic and entertainment value of the movie, making it one of the reasons why I’m relieved I didn’t catch it in theaters
