After the failure of Dhakkad, Kangana Ranaut is back with the first teaser of her new movie – Emergency. Based on the life of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, Kangana Ranaut will play the lead. She is also the director and writer of the movie.
In the short clip, you can see Kangana in a completely new avatar. She is completely unrecognizable as she appears on the screen. With spectacles and cotton saree, Kangana definitely reminds you of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.
In the shared clip, a staff member let her know that she has received a phone call from Henry Kissinger, the former US secretary. And, he wanted to check with her if American President Richard Nixon should address her as ‘ma’am’ instead of using the prevalent title ‘sir’.
Though she nods first, then asks the staff to tell the former US secretary to inform the president that everyone in her office calls her ‘sir.’
Here is the powerful clip that Kangana Ranaut shared on social media:

While admiring how Kangana has transformed her looks and voice to portray Indira Gandhi, a user wrote: “The best actress without any doubt, just look at the voice modulation and mannerisms, it’s so natural and uncanny, still, nowhere it looked #KanganaRanaut trying to imitate #IndiraGandhi. And there is so much maturity & understanding in her direction.#Emergency”. Another user wrote, “Did she take permission of anyone for playing Indira character as we all know her strong one-sided bias against Indira or what Indira represents? If it was a spoof/criticism/mockery in the same name then it is different but if she playing “portrayal” of her then it is diff.” A user mentioned “Disaster in advance”, and another wrote, “Ye film dekhne ke baad logo ko ’emergency’ ki jaroorat padegi.”
