Recently Aamir Khan-starrer official Hindi Remake of Forrest Gump Laal Singh Chaddha opened to mixed reviews. Many critics shared how Aamir Khan’s acting in Laal Singh Chaddha left them disappointed. And, now, many netizens have come forward to share their thoughts in Reddit’s viral thread.
A Reddit user shared a clip of Aamir Khan from Forrest Gump and asked the netizens to share their thoughts about his performance in Laal Singh Chaddha.
This is what people shared: “It was not to THIS extent in PK, and it was fine over there since he was playing the role of an Alien. Nobody has seen any Alien ever, and thus he can make any weird faces and expressions, and people won’t mind. But to portray a SLOW character with this weirdness is unbearable. Also in general it is pretty irritating to watch someone making such over the top expressions. Some actors, who deliver plain face throughout the movie, would still look less irritating than someone heavily over acting.” – SBV_3004
“Can’t believe i am saying this but give me Salman from Tubelight above this any day. He should have gone for subtle innocence.” – deepimpactdonuts “I had no intention to see the movie and i even avoided the trailer cause of Aamir’s expression in posters . This is the first time in watching any clip of this movie and I’m so uncomfortable. I don’t know how people watched the full movie.” – ScallionFar7028
“I think it’s more on aamir being limited as an actor rather than him thinking the audience is too dumb to understand nuance/subtlety.” – teejardni “Now i realize why Aamir delayed the OTT release. It is to prevent us having our hands on a 1080p/4K version of the film to make memes with. Releasing it in feb 2023, when not a single soul will give a flying fuck about the film, is a smart move. Can’t be made fun of if your existence is unknown to the majority.” – Jazzlike-Patience557
“Itni overacting kyu.” – goatbadash “It’s amazing that he made this movie based off of Forrest Gump but learned absolutely nothing from Tom Hanks’ portrayal of a low IQ person. Forrest doesn’t keep a dumb smile on his face all the time that makes it look like he’s got muscular dystrophy, we see rather how Forrest is different from his actions and how he reacts to the world. What an insult to the original.” – countjulian
“You can attribute the failure of the movie to the smuggness and arrogance of Aamir Khan.” – Illustrious_Tie_8487 “How are people comparing this to Tom Hanks’ Gump? He didn’t look so animated, the USP of Gump was that he was completely devoid of the ability to show emotion. This looks like if Jim Carrey’s Dumb and Dumber character mimicked Gump after watching it once.” – charmingpssycho
“Trust me ,even if there is no boycott or any statement by actors ,it would have been a disaster . They are blaming the boycott for this pathetic performance. It’s shrewd tactic , blaming on WhatsApp and twitter than actual product. How did the team approve this scene? Also i read fhe review that this movie is better than fg . Seriously?” – Capital_Rich_9362 “Said it long ago. Aamir is the shrewdest. He knew the film would be a complete dabba. I had honestly never even heard about the boycott thing until Aamir actually came forward and requested everyone to not boycott the film. Mr ‘perfectionist‘ would never admit he fucked up sooo bad twice in a row.” – Melodic-Poet
“I think Aamir himself had given more voice to the boycott noises. He knew from all the screenings he had done that his acting was bad and the film was below par. This way he could save face and say the film was a flop because of boycott. He could have avoided that if he really tried to use to the boycott for publicity. As in turn he has given these boycott morons a false confidence that its because of them the film flopped and now they are trending boycott for every other film left right and centre like the idiots they are.” – laletta “Agreed, watching this video was painful enough. RIP the handful of people who watched the movie.” – BatmanVsTitler
“How can people sit through 3 hours of this guy mocking people with mental disabilities with his exaggerated “acting”, and come out and give the movie more than 1 star?” – ouevreye “What the fuck are those expressions. I am shocked. This was approved? They added this in the movie. This can really be considered offensive…is this how he thinks people on the autistic spectrum behave.” – Livi23_7
“Since its an Indian adaptation, they have to communicate that Lal Singh was mentally retarded, because they assume Indian audience is dumb enough to not understand the complex complexities of complicated human behavioral actions (/s)” – born_of_water “He thinks he is smarter than anyone and everyone else is dumb and they would buy this offensive caricaturish portrayal of someone on the autism spectrum. It literally looks like a parody or someone mocking people with disabilities. It’s pathetic. A film is approved by so many people there are so many people involved and not one of them thought this wasn’t okay?” – Livi23_7
