New OTT Releases This Week (August 24 – 30)
1. Bandar (ZEE5 | August 28)
Samar Mehra is a television actor whose fading career becomes the least of his problems when a former girlfriend accuses him of rape. A fierce media trial is followed by imprisonment in an overcrowded jail, while his sister tries to challenge a legal system that appears stacked against him. Bobby Deol leads this Anurag Kashyap-directed crime drama about accusation, reputation and the fight for justice.
2. Dark Matter Season 2 (Apple TV | August 28)
Jason Dessen returns to a world where alternate realities continue to create new dangers and impossible choices. After everything he did to find his way home, he must now deal with the consequences while confronting fresh mysteries across different versions of reality. Joel Edgerton returns in this science-fiction survival thriller based on Blake Crouch’s novel.
3. Anbe Diana (SonyLIV | August 28)
CSK has quietly loved his neighbour Diana since their school days, but romance becomes complicated once she finally feels the same way. Their relationship has to survive cultural differences, family opposition and old neighbourhood tensions that refuse to disappear. Pari Elavazhagan and Ramya Ranganathan lead this Chennai-set romantic comedy alongside Roja, Chetan and Parithabangal Gopi.
4. Motor City (Prime Video | August 25)
Factory worker John Miller falls for a gangster’s girlfriend in 1970s Detroit and soon finds himself framed for a crime he never committed. Years in prison leave him determined to settle the score once he finally gets out. Alan Ritchson leads the revenge drama with Ben Foster, Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, Lionel Boyce and Amar Chadha-Patel.
5. The Last Sunrise (Prime Video | August 26)
College student Ry meets Julián during a summer in Mallorca and unexpectedly falls in love while living with a chronic illness. Their romance becomes complicated when Ry’s mother tries to buy Julián’s family land for a hotel project, just as Ry’s health begins getting worse. Maia Reficco, Fernando Lindez and Eva Longoria star in this adaptation of Anna Todd’s novel.
6. Death of the Pastor’s Wife (Netflix | August 26)
This three-part documentary revisits the death of 30-year-old Mica Miller, whose body was found in a North Carolina state park in April 2024. Although authorities ruled the death a suicide, questions grew after information emerged about concerns she had previously expressed for her safety. Through unseen footage and accounts from loved ones, the series examines the events before her death and the questions that followed.
7. The Airport Chaplain (Netflix | August 26)
Tobias Wallace works as an airport chaplain who believes helping people matters more than strictly following every rule. His approach puts him in direct conflict with his new boss Mira, who sees him as a problem and wants him gone. Hugo Weaving and Shabana Azeez lead this eight-part Australian drama about a workplace power struggle inside a busy terminal.
8. The Last Salute (Netflix | August 26)
Created as a companion documentary to Operation Safed Sagar, The Last Salute looks back at the MiG-21’s 62-year journey with the Indian Air Force. Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh and pilots who flew the aircraft share memories, untold stories and previously unseen moments from its long service. The documentary also marks the closing of an important chapter in Indian military aviation.
9. Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall (Prime Video & Apple TV | August 25)
Bane begins his plan to destroy Batman by releasing his enemies from Arkham Asylum and forcing an exhausted Bruce Wayne into one fight after another. After chasing down the escaped criminals, Batman still has to face the man who has been waiting to break him. This animated film begins a three-part adaptation of the famous Knightfall storyline and is available to buy or rent.
10. Chumbak (Netflix | August 28)
Five very different families live close together in an old Mumbai row-house neighbourhood, where private problems rarely stay private for long. Parenting, marriage and ageing bring humour as well as emotional challenges, but the neighbours gradually begin supporting one another like an extended family. The series turns everyday community life into a warm story about relationships and belonging.
11. Leanne Season 2 (Netflix | August 27)
Leanne continues rebuilding her life after divorce while trying to date again in her sixties and sharing her home with her ageing parents. Family chaos keeps growing, leaving her to depend once again on her twice-divorced sister Carol for support. Leanne Morgan and Kristen Johnston return, with Lainey Wilson, Jaime Pressly, Billy Gardell and Tyne Daly appearing as guest stars.
12. Babita Singh Reporting (Prime Video | August 28)
Rookie police officer Babita “Baby” Singh gets herself suspended so she can return home for her sister-in-law’s baby shower, but the visit quickly turns tragic. When her childhood friend Bansi is murdered, Babita secretly begins investigating and discovers that the case may be tied to betrayals and secrets within the people closest to her. What starts as a family visit soon becomes a deeply personal murder investigation.
13. Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 3 (Netflix | August 27)
Kimmie enters Season 3 as the new Chief Operating Officer of the Bellarie beauty empire and quickly begins securing her position after an FBI raid shakes the family business. She joins forces with former rival Mallory and Horace, while other Bellarie family members face possible prison sentences. As pressure rises, loyalty disappears and the family begins turning against itself.
14. All the Truth in My Lies (Netflix | August 28)
Six close friends set out on a bachelorette road trip expecting a fun celebration before the wedding. The mood changes once old secrets and feelings that were never discussed begin coming out, forcing everyone to face uncomfortable truths about their relationships. The drama is based on Elísabet Benavent’s popular novel.
15. Part-Timers (JioHotstar | August 28)
Sindhu and Teju become roommates despite coming from very different backgrounds and having completely opposite personalities. Their daily struggles often put them at odds, but both women are united by the same dream of starting a business of their own. Thanuja Puttaswamy and Gnaneswari Kandregula lead this Telugu slice-of-life series about friendship, ambition and figuring out adulthood.
Bonus: Michael (JioHotstar | August 29)
The biopic follows Michael Jackson from his childhood performing with the Jackson 5 to becoming one of the world’s biggest music stars during the Bad World Tour. Alongside his rise to fame, the film looks at his difficult relationship with father Joseph Jackson and the emotional and physical pressure that came with superstardom. Jaafar Jackson plays Michael, with Colman Domingo also starring.
