Radhika Apte, renowned for her acting talent and outspoken nature, has once again left the internet buzzing as she has made candid and bindaas comments about the current state of Bollywood.
ACTORS SHOULD BE VALUED FOR THEIR TALENTS: RADHIKA APTE ON BOLLYWOOD & STAR KIDS
In an interview with Film Companion, Radhika fearlessly spoke about the privileges that star-kids often experience. A snippet from this interview has rapidly spread across Reddit, showcasing her candid conversation about the industry’s existing biases.
Radhika minced no words in articulating her viewpoints about today’s star kids. While sharing her viewpoint, she said, “Actors who want to do better their game, they have to more exercise, dress better, get clicked more, and do thingies on their faces. They don’t go for courses or for coaching, for performance you know because that’s not valued.
They go like That’s a star kid, or this is a somebody being promoted by somebody, cast them, acting to karwa lenge. And then they say, actors are dumb, actors are the least, simplest thing to do. And I find it very annoying.”
In no time the video went viral and many netizens came to Reddit to applaud Radhika for her honest views. A user wrote, “Baja di! Radhika Apte is so frank yaar. Like she has no f*cks to give. Bindaas bol deti hai jo unke man me hai.” Another user commented, “This is the kind of badass woman we like. Not like that kangu babe.” Acting tho karva Lenge is exactly why the industry is in shambles and no one except the SRKs and Sunny Deol’s and AKs cannot get block busters,” opined a third user.
One more comment read, “Honestly. The nepo kids literally act like the popular kids at school while reading out loud Shakespeare or something during class where it’s cool to sound incredibly uninterested bc it’s otherwise too “cringey”. Like ananya in dream girl 2 (and literally every single one of her other movies). If you’re here to act, then go all the way why tf do you have reservations about how cringe you look. The fact you’re worried about already removes the audience from the story that you’re trying to tell.”
One more user added, “Imagine if the audience is tired of these nepo kids and their mediocrity being given national awards and such, how much more the frustration must be for actors in the field having to be the contemporaries who actually suffer and are not given work based on merit alone.”
Someone wrote wrote, “This not only applies to starkids but also some outsiders of today. More than films we see their magazine covers, brand shoots, as they are here for modelling.” Another netizen added, “Great actors are always people who are well read and practice their craft. Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Kamal Hassan, Amitabh and Shahrukh, all of them are well read that’s why they’re considered best actors.”
