Recently, Ranbir Kapoor was called out for cracking an insensitive joke about Alia Bhatt’s weight gain during pregnancy. While Alia may have laughed it off, the internet came forward to school Ranbir Kapoor for cracking such a disrespectful joke.
While answering the interview question of why they are not extensively promoting the film Brahmastra, Alia Bhatt said, “If you’re asking why we are not phailoed everywhere… right now our focus is…”
Ranbir interrupts her and cracks an insensitive joke. He said, “well somebody has phailoed” looking at Alia’s baby bump. At this point, not only Alia is left dumfound but also Ayan Mukerji.
While many may have called out Ranbir Kapoor for his inappropriate joke, there was a small segment of people who said it was okay as Ranbir and Alia are married and husband -wife mein aise jokes chalte hai! (It is okay to crack such jokes between husband and wife.) Sadly, in our patriarchal and toxic society, cracking misogynist and sexist jokes are okay. The success of the regressive comedy show – The Kapil Sharma Show is a proof.
But, it was comforting to see how so many people came forward to express their disgust with Ranbir Kapoor’s regressive, inappropriate and insensitive joke. And, now a Reddit user has posted a video of Shefali Shah highlighting the biggest red flag in the relationship and, the internet wants Shefali Shah to share it with her co-star, Alia Bhatt, who worked with her in Darlings.
Sharing the video, the Reddit user said, “Shefali Shah talks about the biggest red flag in a relationship and I agree with her! Also, wish she told her co-stars the same”
In this video, Shefali Shah is asked about the biggest red flag in the relationship. To which she says – Disrespect. She further shares how disrespect in a relationship can even start with light humor.
After watching the video, many shared how they could relate to Ranbir Kapoor fat-shaming Alia Bhatt for her pregnancy weight.
It’s not just Alia, many of us need to learn from this Shefali Shah’s beautiful take. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
