The massive age difference between actors and actresses in the movie industry has been a recurring topic of debate. In many instances, older actors are paired with much younger actresses, promoting women as mere objects of desire and limiting opportunities for older actresses. This practice has led to criticism of many male actors, including Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, for their onscreen pairings with younger actresses.
However, recently, Tamannaah Bhatia was seen defending this practice of wide onscreen age differences.
Tamannaah Bhatia is making waves in the Tamil film industry with her superhit track “Kaavaalaa”, the song that features in her upcoming film Jailer. In the film “Jailer,” she shares the screen with the legendary Thalaiva Rajinikanth.
The talented actress, at 33 years old, is starring opposite the legendary Rajinikanth, who is 72 years old, in the film “Jailer,” and opposite Chiranjeevi, aged 67, in “Bhola Shankar.” During the launch of another song – “Tu Aa Dilbara” – from “Jailer,” Tamannaah confidently defended the age gap between the lead cast, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the characters portrayed on screen rather than the actors’ ages.
Tamannaah Bhatia On Wide Onscreen Age Gap
While addressing the important question about the age difference, Tamannaah said, “Why are you even looking at the age difference? You have to look at two characters that are being played on the screen, that’s it.” She further added, “If I’ve to talk about age, then I will look at Tom Cruise’s stunts even at the age of 60, and I would like to do saucy dance numbers at that age too.”
As per reports, a source quoted, “She has the freedom to make her choices and plan her career accordingly. She has worked with the two biggest stars of Telugu and Tamil movies-Chiranjeevi and Rajinikanth respectively- because working with them gives her more mileage and popularity in comparison to working with young heroes…Already, her songs with these two superstars have rocked the internet and are counting millions of views.”
Tamanna Bhatia’s Last Project Lust Stories 2
Prior to her role in the film “Jailer,” Tamannaah Bhatia was part of “Lust Stories 2,” where she starred alongside Vijay Verma. Although the movie garnered mixed reactions, fans were elated to discover that the two actors are dating each other.
The casting of older male actors opposite women half their age has been a recurring topic of debate in Bollywood. From Salman Khan to Akshay Kumar, many powerful male actors have faced criticism for choosing much younger actresses as their love interests on screen.
This practice has sparked discussions for two main reasons: firstly, it reinforces gender stereotypes by portraying men as powerful figures and women as mere objects of desire. Secondly, it creates a limited space for older actresses in the industry and perpetuates ageism against women.
