“Recently, ‘The Archies,’ one of the most hyped movies of 2023, was released on Netflix, marking the debut of many new-generation actors. The movie, based on the famous comic ‘The Archies,’ stars Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, Dot, Mihir, and Vedang Raina and is directed by the talented Zoya Akhtar.
The Archies generated a lot of buzz even before its release, given Akhtar’s successful track record with movies like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do.’ Like many others, we were excited too. However, the movie couldn’t live up to the expectations. It failed miserably on various levels.

Acting Skills
As pointed out by many, the actors lacked basic acting skills, failing to do justice to their characters. Unfortunately, they couldn’t establish any screen presence or connect with the audience. We hope the actors will improve in their future performances.

Struggle With Hindi Dialogues
Many were disappointed by the actors’ struggle to speak Hindi dialogues, which hindered their acting and facial expressions. Without proper dialogue delivery, the actors failed to leave any impression. It’s quite disappointing when the audience expects high-quality content, and a renowned director presents such dull content that had potential.

Boring & Dull Story
Despite Akhtar’s reputation for delivering compelling stories, “The Archies” faltered in storytelling. The plot was highly predictable, and the excessive insertion of numerous songs after pivotal scenes disrupted the flow and coherence of the story.
Forced Adaptation to Indian Context
Adapting an already-established American comic into an Indian context was known to be challenging for ‘The Archies.’ Despite Zoya Akhtar’s efforts, the execution failed, leading to disappointment.
Slow Pacing
The movie suffered from a slow-paced narrative, which made The Archies difficult to watch.
