Though the movie performed terrific at the box office, it hasn’t been a smooth journey. The movie faced scrutiny and controversy for its bold portrayal of sensitive subjects like religious conversions, ISIS, and love jihad. The film’s release initially faced a ban in West Bengal, and several theaters in Tamil Nadu declined to screen it, intensifying the challenges it faced.

Despite the film’s resounding success in theaters, the makers of “The Kerala Story” are now encountering a new hurdle in their quest for an Over-The-Top (OTT) platform to showcase their movie. Sudipto Sen, the director, expressed his disappointment, revealing that they have been struggling to find a suitable OTT buyer for the film.

As per Bollywood Hungama, the film has yet to receive any favorable response from potential streaming platforms, leaving the team in a state of uncertainty.

“We still haven’t got a suitable offer from any OTT platform for The Kerala Story…we are still waiting for a good workable deal from any of the main OTT platforms. But so far, we have not got any offer worth considering. It seems the film industry has ganged up to punish us…Our box office success has irked many sections of the film industry. We have a feeling that a section of the entertainment industry has united to punish us for our success.”, said Sudipto.
