2. Hum Hindustani

Starring Saif Ali Khan, Pratik Gandhi and Deepak Dobriyal, Hum Hindustani takes viewers back to the early years of independent India. The film follows the extraordinary effort behind organising India’s first general election as officials attempt to bring democracy to millions of citizens across a vast and newly independent nation. With enormous logistical challenges and a country still finding its feet after Independence and Partition, the film promises an inspiring story about the making of the world’s largest democracy.
3. Mirzapur: The Film

The violent world of Mirzapur is heading to the big screen. Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya alongside Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi. While the complete storyline is still under wraps, the film brings the familiar crime-filled universe of power, rivalry and survival into a much bigger format. For anyone who loves gritty crime thrillers and has followed the franchise over the years, Mirzapur: The Film is easily one of the most anticipated releases still to come in 2026.
4. Mess

Mess is an upcoming dark comedy starring Pratik Gandhi, Ranvir Shorey, Gajraj Rao and Anurag Thakur. A group of robbers enters the home of a meticulous man with OCD expecting an easy job. Instead, their robbery turns into a bizarre night-long standoff as the homeowner’s unusual reaction completely changes the situation. Before long, the intruders themselves are fighting to survive. Directed by Rajesh A. Krishnan and backed by Hrithik Roshan, the unusual premise makes Mess one of the most intriguing titles on this list.
5. Phoolan

Directed by Richie Mehta, Phoolan focuses on a brutal and defining 48-hour period in the life of Phoolan Devi. The story follows an impoverished 17-year-old Phoolan trapped in the Chambal region while more than 2,000 armed men surround the area and attempt to hunt her down. Instead of covering her entire life, the film concentrates on this intense siege and the extraordinary circumstances she was forced to survive. The film has also been selected for a Special Presentation at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.

6. Ghamasaan

Starring Arshad Warsi and Pratik Gandhi, Ghamasaan takes viewers into India’s heartland for an intense thriller directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. At the centre of the story is a fearless IPS officer who sets out to bring down a dreaded dacoit, triggering a dangerous cat-and-mouse battle. But the conflict is not simply about good versus evil, as power, loyalty, corruption and moral ambiguity begin to blur the lines between the two sides. With Warsi and Gandhi at the centre, Ghamasaan looks like one of the more intense thrillers still to come this year.
7. Sarvgunn Sampann

Starring Vaani Kapoor, Ishwak Singh and Brijendra Kala, Sarvgunn Sampann is an upcoming Hindi comedy-drama centred on identity and the labels society places on women. A young woman’s life becomes complicated when people begin comparing her appearance to a famous adult-film star, creating problems in both her personal and social life. Mixing humour with an unusual premise, the film looks very different from the crime-heavy titles arriving this year.
8. Panchayat Season 5

Phulera is preparing to welcome viewers back once again with Panchayat Season 5. This time, Abhishek finds himself dealing with a hostile work environment under new and vengeful leadership. While he prepares to move ahead with his MBA dreams, he still has some unfinished business to settle in Phulera first. With village politics, changing relationships and Abhishek’s own future once again colliding, the new season promises another mix of humour, emotion and everyday chaos.
9. Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2.0

The famous celebrity talk show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai is returning in a new digital avatar with R Madhavan as host. The original show became known for intimate and emotional conversations with some of India’s biggest personalities. The revived version, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2.0, will once again bring well-known personalities into personal conversations about their lives, struggles, achievements and journeys. For viewers who remember the warmth of the original show, its return could be a major nostalgia moment.
10. Legacy

Starring R Madhavan, Legacy is a Tamil crime drama built around ambition, loyalty and blood ties. At the centre of the story is a powerful crime empire whose future hangs in the balance as questions of succession begin to emerge. With control of the empire at stake, relationships are tested and succession becomes a battlefield. The series also stars Nimisha Sajayan, Gulshan Devaiah and Abhishek Banerjee and promises a dark family drama filled with rivalry and shifting loyalties.
11. Mismatched Season 4

Dimple and Rishi are returning for one final chapter as Mismatched comes back for Season 4. Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf reprise their much-loved roles as the series prepares to bring their journey to a close. Netflix has not yet revealed the complete storyline, so exactly what awaits Dimple and Rishi remains under wraps. This historical drama follows a group of brave young Indian freedom fighters who believed armed resistance was essential to ending British rule. Their courage, sacrifice and commitment to the country form the emotional centre of the story as they knowingly put their lives at risk for freedom. Directed by Nikkhil Advani and starring Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta and Gurfateh Pirzada, The Revolutionaries is inspired by Sanjeev Sanyal’s book Revolutionaries: The Other Story of How India Won Its Freedom.
