Dhruv Rathee, renowned for his scenic travel vlogs and informative content, frequently creates controversial videos. Recently, the social media activist released a viral 22-minute video addressing the impact of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ on society. Describing ‘Animal’ as both cringeworthy and cancerous to our society, Rathee presents a thought-provoking video that urges everyone aspiring to live in a better society to watch.
Youtuber Dhruv Rathee Calls Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ A Cancer
In the viral video titled ‘Animal: The Worst Movie of 2023?’, Rathee discusses the film’s problematic aspects, exploring broader societal issues such as alpha male notions and the mindset of the audience attracted to such movies.
Citing research reports, he highlights how all crimes against women stem from a regressive belief system that propagates the idea of women being inferior to men. This belief is heavily promoted by Ranbir Kapoor’s character in ‘Animal.’
Ranbir Kapoor’s character crosses every boundary to disrespect women
Rathee critiques Ranbir Kapoor’s character in ‘Animal,’ emphasizing instances of physical abuse towards his wife, ridiculing menstrual discomfort, and demanding his lover to do demeaning acts to show her love. He points out that such behaviors could have been somewhat justified if the film had depicted Ranbir’s character as mentally ill or later undergoing a positive transformation. However, the movie instead glorifies toxicity and misogyny without any form of remorse.
Rathee further questions the responsibility expected from a movie that features a hero promoting cancer through excessive smoking.

Movie Reviewers criticizing Animal abused by trolls
He also touches upon the outrage of some fans who liked the movie and began abusing movie reviewers who criticized it. Analyzing the people attacking critics, he explains how some individuals seek validation in toxic movies for their wrongful acts. Rathee references Kangana Ranaut’s remarks on such people, labeling them as antisocial and justifying their own problematic actions because of movies and heroes.
