“We call this relationship ‘lifetime commitment’. We are planning our wedding in Goa,” says Paromita Mukherjee, one of the women pic.twitter.com/v4omRiLtkq
After their pictures, now it’s their beautiful love story that is going viral over internet. While sharing the love story, Dr. Paromita mentioned how she first met Dr Surbhi at a mental health conference in Kolkata.
Surbhi was one of the speakers at the event that Paromita attended. Paromita expressed her wish to talk to Surbhi at the conference, however, with the latter having to return to Nagpur, keeping in touch would have been difficult. This is when Surbhi shared her Instagram id with Paromita, marking the beginning of their cute love story.
However, for Paromita, it wasn’t love at first sight. “It was just an infatuation.” “I decided that we would go on a trip to the beach with our friends. I told her the plan and asked if I would propose to her there in front of everyone, would she reject me? She said, ‘No, why would I do that?’ So, I got my answer. So, the proposal that was supposed to happen on a beach in Goa or Mumbai turned into a grand commitment ceremony,” Paromita added.
Opening up about her family, Paromita said, “My father knew about my sexual orientation since 2013. When I told my mother recently, she was shocked. But later, she agreed because she wants me to be happy.”
Fortunately, Surbhi Mitra, who is a psychiatrist by profession, did not face any opposition from her family. “There was never any opposition to my sexual orientation from my family. In fact, when I told my parents, they were happy. I’m a psychiatrist and many people talk to me about living a dual life because they couldn’t take a stand for themselves,” said Surbhi.
The couple plans to get married by 2022-end or the beginning of 2023. Like the ring ceremony, the couple has named their wedding ceremony “Civil Union.”
How netizens showered their love over the couple show our society is opening to same sex marriages. As they say Love is blind and knows no status, religion or gender.
