After stepping away from a “movie” to show his zero tolerance to sexual misconduct, Aamir Khan has found a much more meaningful way to show his support to #MeToo movement.
Aamir Khan has always been respected for being a rebel, who stands for issues and topics that no one does. And, through his show, Satyamev Jayate, he made sure that he picks up issues that are not only relevant but are in dire need to be handled.
As per IndiaTimes, the 4th season of Satyamev Jayate is on cards and Aamir has decided to bring the #MeToo movement on the forefront. Reports also claim that Aamir will be inviting the #MeToo survivors to share their harassment stories.
A source has been quoted in the report as saying,
[ifh_news_form]“With several women opening up about sexual harassment at workplaces and otherwise, Aamir wants to throw light on their problems and the issue of their safety. He has told his team to start doing research on it. He will invite the #MeToo survivors to share their horrifying experiences. He will also get some of the alleged accused on the show to present their point of view.”
The #MeToo movement gave women voices to call out the stories about sexual harassment in various professions and organizations. Though most of the superstars maintained their silence, a few came forward to support the movement. And, one of those was Aamir Khan.
Recently, Aamir and his wife Kiran decided to “step away” from a film.
They issued a statement on Twitter, in which it was stated that their production company Aamir Khan Productions has a “zero tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct and predatory behavior of any kind.”
Though Aamir hasn’t taken any name, it is assumed that he was referring to the Gulshan Kumar biopic, which was supposed to be directed by Subhash Kapoor. Subhash has been accused of molestation by actress Geetika Tyagi back in 2014, according to an IANS report.
People, like Aamir, who are committed to bringing a positive change in our society, would never be scared of talking about the matters that are uncomfortable and difficult to handle.
We need more people like Aamir to step up!
