Recently, when Uttarakhand struggled with massive disasters, many of us left us worried about our exploitation of natural resources. While many of us were surrounded with negativity and hopelessness after watching Uttarakhand struggle, a class VIII student gave us hope. His action restored our faith and ensured that there is some hope for the future of this world.
On the 9th of February, the country witnessed an inspiring act when a Class VIII from Telangana raised his voice for the environment.
When he saw a man cutting down a forty-year-old neem tree, he swung into action. Rather than ignoring it, this boy chose to inform the authorities. He called up the Telangana Forest Department’s toll-free number and informed them of a tree being cut. According to the media reports, the boy identified himself as ‘Green Brigadier’ while on the call with Forest officials. The authorities quickly took action and reached the spot.
As per the reports, G Santosh Reddy had chopped down the tree on Monday because it was blocking a construction project near his house. The man was fined INR 62,075. This inspiring incident took place in Saidabad, Hyderabad.
After the news went viral, many netizens came forward to applaud the child’s courage to raise his voice!
