The sudden death of Sonali Phogat has left the whole country shocked. BJP leader and Instagram star Sonali Phogat was declared dead Tuesday morning. Despite initial reports of a heart attack, her family challenged them and claimed she was a victim of foul play in Goa. The last rites of Sonali Phogat were held in Hissar, Haryana. Many people came to pay their last respects.
In the midst of the grieving crowd, one particular scene that left many tear-eyed was a teenager who carried her mother’s bier on her shoulders.
Showcasing the unparallel resilience and courage, Sonali’s daughter shattered the stereotypes as she carried her mother’s bier on her shoulders. Sonali’s last rites were conducted on Friday at Hisar in Haryana.
Recently, the video of Yashodhara carrying her mother’s bier has gone viral and touched so many hearts across the internet. In the video, Sonali’s daughter could be seen crying inconsolably.
It is quite heart-touching how courageous Yashodhara accompanied her mother on her last journey irrespective of what our regressive society preaches. Yashodhara is the only child of Sonali. In a society, where men are mostly allowed to perform a person’s last rites, it is quite courageous of this teenager to play such an active role in her mother’s last rites.
As soon as Sonali Phogat finished her tenth grade, she was married off. Her husband helped her finish her education and helped her in starting her acting career. In 2016, Sonali lost her husband. Even he was found dead under very similar mysterious circumstances.
On Friday, the Goa Police revealed some disturbing details. The official shared that Sonali was forcibly drugged at a party by her two associates, who are now arrested after being named as accused in the case related to her death.
“Based on CCTV footage, it was seen that the accused, Sudhir Sangwan, and his associate Sukhwinder Singh were partying with the deceased at a club. A video establishes that one of them forcefully made the victim consume a substance,” Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi said.
We hope the authorities will provide speedy justice to Sonali’s family. And, Yashodhara will get the courage to bear this unbearable pain. R.I.P Sonali!
