Recently, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Union Budget 2021. After the announcement, Nirmala Sitharaman and her team attended the post-Budget press conference. The purpose of this conference was mainly to field the questions from the reporters.
All the reporters were ideally allowed to ask one question each but all the reporters ignored this rule at the press conference. But when a female reporter, Gulveen from ET, mentioned that she would be asking two questions, Nirmala Sitharaman’s colleague pointed out that she was allowed to only ask one question.
Realizing how her colleague didn’t stop the male reporters from asking two questions, the finance minister remarked:
“Why do you say that only to her, you didn’t stop the guys.”
Not only her comment drew laughter from the crowd but also showed why we need more women representation in the parliament. Her comments were equally appreciated over the internet. Many netizens came forward to appreciate her thoughtful comment:
