In an inspiring act, actress Mandira Bedi and her husband Raj Kaushal have adopted a four-year-old daughter. Recently, the couple took to Instagram to introduce the newest member of their family – Tara Bedi Kaushal.
Mandira is already a mother to an eight-year-old son – Vir. Sharing a perfect family portrait on Instagram, Mandira wrote:
“She has come to us… like a blessing from above… our little girl, Tara. Four years and a bit… with eyes that sparkle like stars… sister to her Vir. Welcoming her home… With open arms and pure love. Grateful, thankful. blessed. Tara Bedi Kaushal. Became a part of our family on 28th July 2020.”

Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal got married in 1999 and they welcomed son Vir in 2011. It was last year when Mandira Bedi spoke about her hope to adopt a daughter. While sharing her intent, Mandira told Hindustan Times,
“Raj and I wanted a sister for Vir. My son is eight and we are looking at adopting a girl who could be between two-and-a-half to four-years-old. We have already thought of a name for her. We are going to call her Tara. Unfortunately, the procedure hasn’t moved forward since then. I’m eagerly waiting to get approval from them so that we can bring a new addition to our family.”
In the country, where girls are seen as a liability and being abandoned at a young age, we need more people like Mandira Bedi and Raj Kausal. Before Mandira, many women – Sakshi Tanwar, Sushmita Sen, Raveena Tandon, Sunny Leone – have also adopted daughters. A few months back, Shefali also shared her desire to adopt a baby girl.
At IFORHER, we congratulate Mandira and her family as they embark on a new journey of parenthood. We hope their actions will inspire more men and women to come forward to adopt kids and give them another chance at life.
