In our patriarchal society, where many baby girls are either killed or left to die, we want to celebrate Shefali Jariwala’s inspiring move to adopt a baby girl.
In case you remembered Shefali Jariwala’s Bigg Boss 13 journey, you are most likely aware of her desire to adopt a baby girl and embrace motherhood. In BB house, on multiple occasions, Shefali was often heard discussing the same with her fellow colleague.
Recently in an exclusive chat with TOI, the 39-year-old actress has opened up about her plans for motherhood and starting a family.
While sharing how Sunny Leone’s decision to adopt a baby girl inspired her, Shefali said,
“I discussed adopting a baby with Hindustani Bhau inside the Bigg Boss 13 house. I was actually moved by Sunny Leone’s decision when she adopted a girl child. I always wanted to adopt a baby girl and after I got married to Parag when we were discussing starting a family I shared my views with him and he is a very supportive husband (sic).”
In July 2017, Sunny adopted a 21-month-old baby girl Nisha from an orphanage in Latur, Maharashtra.
While sharing how her husband, Parag, also encouraged her, Shefali said
“Parag told me, whether I will give birth to a child or bring him/her home, it will be my decision and he will always support me.”
Talking about why she felt like adopting a baby, Shefali said,
“There are a lot of children in the world who need a home and I think I am in a position where I can give them a secure, good life then why not. I want to give that child a good home, education and a good life because God has given me everything.”
Given the tedious adoption process in our country, the couple is currently in the middle of the adoption process and waiting to get done with all the formalities. Concluding her interview, Shefali said:
“I have been blessed with all this so I want to share my blessings with that child. But the adoption process in this country is a little tedious. There’s a lot of paperwork involved and there’s a lot of waiting also. So we are currently in the middle of the process and if God is kind and your wishes are with us, my dream to bring my child home will come true. I’ll become a mother and bring a lovely girl home.”
At IFORHER, we wish this couple all the best in this beautiful endeavor and hope many would seek inspiration from them to give an unfortunate child another chance at life.
