At the young age of 24, when Sushmita Sen became a mother by adopting a baby girl, Reene, she inspired many young Indians to consider adoption. 19 years hence, it’s her daughter Alisah who is raising awareness about adoption.
Sushmita Sen & Her Daughters
No wonder, even after 19 years of her first decision to adopt Reene, Sushmita Sen believes that bringing Renee and Alisah into her life was her wisest decision. Sushmita broke another age-old taboo of adoption by making another conscious decision of letting Renee and Alisah know early on that they were adopted.
Alisah’s Essay On Adoption
Sometime back, Sushmita took to Instagram to share a video of the 10-year-old reading out her essay on the topic “Adopting a child from the orphanage”, which stole the hearts of thousands of people across the globe.
In the video, Alisah says,
“I believe that you should adopt a child from the orphanage since you will have happiness in your family. After all, a child must have a right to live. You might be thinking that adopting a child means more responsibility than a biological one, but no, you are wrong. Both types are the same. And secondly, there shouldn’t even be a differentiation.”
“Honestly it’s a beautiful feeling to know that you gave life in such a way that you saved one.”
