As a society, we seldom celebrate those inspiring fathers who not only raised their daughters with love and care but also left no stone unturned in making them strong and powerful. One such father is Anushka Sharma’s dad, Ajay Kumar Sharma.
Hailing from an army family, Anushka Sharma had started from scratch and steadily carved her niche in the world of Bollywood without a godfather. And, Anushka leaves no chance to express her gratitude for her family and especially for her father and his profession as an army man.
Anushka, like any daddy’s girl, has shared from time to time how her father is her biggest inspiration. On Father’s Day 2017, Anushka Sharma had written a lauding message for her ‘biggest inspiration’ – her father Ajay Kumar Sharma,
“I couldn’t possibly be more like anyone as I am like my father. I wish every girl growing up gets to look up to a man like I got to with my dad. He taught me to stand up for myself and what I believed in and never allow anyone to treat me wrongly. My biggest inspiration comes from him and how wonderful this world would be if there were more men like you papa! I love you to the moon and back #FathersDay.”
But this wasn’t the only time when she expressed admiration to her father. On multiple occasions, she has expressed how proudly she wears the tag of a soldier’s daughter. In one of her interviews, she revealed how her father’s presence in the army had shaped her and turned into a tough survivor,
“Personally, I have harnessed a great sense of adventure and fun. I can relate to continuous changes, which have added to my personal growth from an early age. Our parents get posted in remote areas of India, where we naturally get trained to adapt to the ever-changing dynamics and transform into tough survivors.
Parents from defense background have a more liberated set of values which adds to the inherent confidence and self-belief their children display.”
And once again, on January 16, 2020, i.e., Army Day, Anushka Sharma penned down a heartfelt note for her dad, Ajay Kumar Sharma, who had fought for India in 1999 Kargil War. While sharing some old pictures of her father from his army days, Anushka Sharma, the proud daughter wrote,
“Their selfless sacrifices, courage and brotherhood is beyond words. My dad always made me proud. Love you papa #armyday.”
