Fathers. The special souls, who make endless sacrifices for their kids so that they could turn their dreams into reality. Fathers’ love is a complex subject. Because no matter how strongly they feel the love for their kids, they never find it easy to say – “I love you, kid!”.Â
Like many of you, I am also blessed with a very supportive father. And, I am pretty sure that many would relate to how my father has always been stingy with words when it comes to expressing love for his kids.
But, don’t make a mistake by judging the father’s love with the count of words spoken.
He may not say thousands of words on how special we are to him. But he definitely makes you believe how much you mean to him through millions of unsaid gestures. It is quite impressive, how fathers without saying much, make us realize how much they love us. From giving us our first lesson in equality to making us believe in ourselves, our fathers made sure that they raise women so strong that no one could break them.Â
I can’t remember when my father said “I love you, Beta” to me but I also can’t remember any time I felt wasn’t loved enough by my dad. It is heart-touching how with small gestures he always made me feel the warmth of his love.
It’s amazing how we feel our fathers’Â love even in silence.Â
Their love showed in the first time they dropped us at school. It showed in those bike riding sessions – where we threw tantrums after falling down. But he showed immense patience to never let us give up! It showed every time we failed and he stood by us. It showed when our relatives tried to shatter our dreams. But, he came to our rescue.
Most importantly, every time our society failed us as women, he stood like a rock in our support.Â
Remember those times, when mom was busy and dad handled everything from laundry to coming up the best recipes in the kitchen. He not only showed us how equality in marriage looks like but also made us learn if a man can’t respect a woman and treat her equal, he doesn’t deserve her.Â
Though our fathers may be men of few words, when they let them out, they are the best pieces of life advice.Â
How could we forget how he came up with the most empowering words on believing ourselves just before the test to calm down our nerves. Or, saying the most inspiring one-liners to take away our fears of failures whenever we tried new things. He made us believe that it is okay to fail but what isn’t is to give up on your dreams once you fell down. It is quite heart-touching after every fall, he was right there to cheer us up and make us ready to try again!Â
With a few words and a lot of smiles, how our amazing fathers shaped our lives.
They gave us the freedom to live our dreams; They raised us to grow into strong and independent women; They taught us how to stand against the patriarchal mindset to believe in ourselves; They taught us how to be tough when life gets rough!Â
It is hard, to sum up why fathers are so special. But it is not very difficult to understand why. It breaks our heart how many of us are so busy in our lives that it takes a Father’s day to remind us how special they are.
To our real hero, who struggled so much to make us who we are:
We may have let go of your hand years back but we know we live in your hearts. And you live in ours. With every passing moment, we know you are praying and wishing best for us. We know it doesn’t matter how many times our life collapses, you will always be there for us.
Thanks to all Dads, who fought the world for their daughters to give them the best life!
P.S. Moms, you are special too in your own unique way. And, the supportive fathers and loving moms are the best teams that we could have ever wished for.Â
