As the pollution levels in the National Capital Region have gone from poor to ‘hazardous’ over the last few days, everyone is questioning Government actions in curbing air pollution.
While the mothers are taking out nebulizers, and compiling emergency contact numbers of doctors, this new t0-be mom adopted a unique way to depict the fear that every parent is scared of.
Every year, citizens urge the government to take actions but as the situation gets better, the matter is put on the back burner.
Urvashi Dagar, an expectant mother, was asked not to walk outdoors and breathe in the fresh air, which is key for any to-be mother. She has been forced to stay indoors and use air purifiers.
As per The Better India, Siddharth Malkania, the photographer, who has captured Urvashi’s plea for a better environment for her unborn child, shared:
“It all came together when we were trying to find a suitable time for the shoot. While I do most of the shoots outdoors, the pollution levels in the city were causing trouble.”
He continues,
“In a conversation, I mentioned to Urvashi that she could consider wearing a mask for the shoot and that idea stuck in her head. Having experienced first hand, the problems that the pollution causes, she was completely on board with the idea.”
Siddharth shares a heart-wrenching a moment with Urvashi’s 5-year-old daughter.
He says,
“She carried her dolls for the shoot and put a mask on them, saying that even they would be affected by the pollution. This truly broke my heart.”
These images make us question what are we leaving behind for our children. If we don’t find ways to save the environment now, then when will we?
