Capturing the irony of how coronavirus lockdown is affecting rich & poor in our country, Khurrana’s poem is a reminder for us to be less selfish and self-centered during these tough times.

In order to stop the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 virus, many parts of our country are on lockdown as a precautionary measure. During this lockdown, daily wage workers & low-income families are facing the brunt of the situation.

To capture the impact of lockdown on low-income groups of the country, the Actor Ayushmann Khurrana on Wednesday shared a self-written emotional poem that touched the hearts of many.

His prose threw light on how the shutdown is affecting rich and poor differently. He tweeted:

Aur gareeb hai apne somvaar ke intezaar mein.
Aur gareeb hai apne rozgaar ke intezaar mein.
“

Translation

Now a rich person’s every day is a Sunday,
and a poor is waiting for his Monday.
Now a rich is spending time with their family,
and a poor is waiting for his employment.

Aur gareeb hai apne somvaar ke intezaar mein.
Aur gareeb hai apne rozgaar ke intezaar mein.

Some others turned poetic too to express themselves and their thoughts about Coronavirus.

While the whole country is critically observing the coronavirus epidemic, we have a humble request – Please help these daily wagers as much as you could. Because they are the ones who made sure you had a comfortable life in the most stressful times of your life.
