On Valentine’s day, when couples are spending money on luxury and expensive items to show love for each other, this couple’s story makes you believe that you can’t buy TRUE LOVE.
The inspiring love story of this brave and courageous Kerala couple, Sachin Kumar and Bhavya, will make you believe that in the world of fake love-stories, there are still a few real ones that exist.
This couple not only fought against society but also went through a tough battle against deadly Stage-4 CANCER to stay together!
Yes, Cancer!
After hearing their story, you might ask yourself how this couple got so much of strength! Perhaps it is their unconditional love!
Their Beautiful Yet Inspiring Love Story
After completing his undergraduate course, Sachin took up an accountancy course in Nilambur where he met Bhavya for the first time.
After six months of friendship, Sachin finally got the courage to confess his love for Bhavya.
“When I told her about my feelings, she didn’t say anything, but I understood that she felt the same way. That’s how it all started,”
The 23-year-old told The Better India. But, Bhavya’s family was strictly opposed to the relationship. They told her to leave the house forever if she gets married to Sachin.
Sachin’s family was not much different. They were also not in favour of this marriage.
But, as they say, LOVE has to do what LOVE has to do.
The family disapproval didn’t affect their relationship. After completing the accountancy course, Bhavya started working at an institute.
But, she started suffering from a consistent backache. Initially, the couple assumed that it was either caused because of her regular bus travel to work or her sitting in front of the computer for hours.

After consultation with the doctor, Bhavya was diagnosed with a rare cancer affecting bone, particularly spine.
The duo was suggested to consult “much more specialized practitioners”. Hence, they left for Khozikhode to get Bhavya tested without informing their families.
But then the heart-wrenching news came that isn’t easy for anyone to handle.
Bhavya was diagnosed with Stage-4 Ewing’s Sarcoma, which is a rare type of cancer that affects bones and specifically the spine.
“She had to start with chemotherapy as soon as possible,” Sachin explained.
When Bhavya’s family struggled to gather money for her chemo sessions, Sachin and his friends came forward to support them.
Sachin shared with TBI:
“I teamed up with my friends and did odd jobs to raise money. On March 21, 2018, she had her first chemo session,”
Sachin realized the strength of his love when he found himself wholeheartedly supporting Bhavya to tonsure her head. He knew he was with love of his life.
Winning Against The Odds
Sachin couldn’t stop himself from laughing when he shared how they got engaged on April Fools Day,
“When cancer came unannounced into our lives, I realized how much I loved her, and if there was only so much time left, then I wanted us to spend every second of it, together.”
He further added,
“Despite opposition from both of our parents, and especially with Bhavya’s precarious condition, we got engaged and that too, on April 1.”
As the need for money kept rising, Sachin started working as a tile-laying daily wage labourer to earn money. And, their friends with help of social media collected funds for Bhavya’s chemo session.

In November 2018, after six chemo sessions, Sachin and Bhavya got married in front of their parents and relatives.
And, when the couple went for a check-up 6 days after their wedding, Sachin shared:
“While the initial prognosis ruled out any possibility of the surgical removal of the tumour on Bhavya’s spine because of her advanced stage, our immediate intervention with chemo sessions paid off.
The doctors were now confident about removing the tumour from her 10th vertebrae, which had considerably shrunk”
As the surgeons have successfully removed Bhavya’s tumour, she might be cancer-free after three more chemo sessions.
With the understanding that cancer is recurring, Sachin shared:
“Nobody has given a 100% guarantee, because this is a recurring disease…there is a chance that the tumour could come back in five years.”
True Love In The Fake World
But even after knowing such a brutal truth, Sachin support for Bhavya is commendable. In the world, where couples either cheat each other or succumb their marriage under the pressure of their egos, this couple definitely makes you hopeful about true love.
