This heart-touching love story of this couple is a reminder that true love is for eternity – Nothing can break it; nothing can shatter it; nothing can destroy it. It stays in the hearts forever till eternity.
In an inspiring love story shared by HoB, the wife shared how her husband stood by her during the toughest phase of her life – when she battled a gruesome acid attack. After her face and body were burnt down, many relatives and she herself felt that her husband might leave her. But how her husband turned into her care-taker is what restores our faith in true love.
While sharing her inspiring love story, the woman shared how the couple met and fought against the family to be with each other:
“Girish and I first met at his Tauji’s place– it was ‘love at first sight’; after just a few encounters, he proposed marriage! But I said no. He was a Rajput while I was a Pandit, Papa wouldn’t agree. So what followed was a four-year no-contact period till our paths crossed again; this time at a wedding. I don’t know what it was… maybe the ‘shaadi ka mahual’ but when he proposed again, I said yes!
But the facts hadn’t changed; I knew Papa wouldn’t agree. So after refusing ‘n’ number of rishtas, one day I called Girish up and said, ‘shaadi karte hai!’ The same evening we got married in court.
Our decision didn’t sit well with either of our families, but a year later, when our son was born, all hearts melted. It was an emotional reunion and we moved back with my in-laws.”
She further shared about the acid attack that changed the couple’s life forever:
“It was going well after– we were both working. Our offices were close so we formed a routine–every day, Girish would drop and pick me up from the office. But once, right before Holi, I left late. On my way back, I called Girish, when suddenly, two boys on a bike slowed down near my rickshaw and threw something on my face.
I thought it was a chemical color, so I told Girish that, but when my body started to burn, I asked the rickshaw wala to take me to the hospital. That’s all I remember from that night. I opened my eyes 2 days later in a hospital–Girish was by my side.
He just said that I’d hurt the right side of my body a little and that I’d be okay in no time. I wanted to believe him, but the dressing on my body was telling another story. I was in the hospital for 18 days. On the day I was getting discharged, I was told the truth, ‘Aap par kisi ne acid phenka tha.’
For the first time I saw my body barring the dressing– the entire right side of my body was burnt. I wanted to see my face but no one in my family let me. My first tryst with reality was when my two years old looked at me and said, ‘Aap maa nai ho. Bring my mom back.’ I didn’t know how to react; I just cried.”
But how her husband Girish stood like a rock with her will leave you teary-eyed:
“ For the next two years, I was in and out of the hospital, but Girish didn’t leave my side. I once overheard my family say, ‘Love marriage hai, what if he leaves her?’ I won’t lie, that thought crossed my mind as well, but seeing his love and dedication towards me didn’t leave any room for doubt.
He became my sole caregiver–from bathing me to dressing my wounds, to carrying me around the house, he did it all so happily. He even tended to our toddler while managing work. That one incident made me realize what true love is and that he married me for my heart, not my face. I didn’t even need a mirror; I just started seeing myself through his eyes and I feel beautiful every single day because of that.”
At IFORHER, we are in awe of this inspiring couple, who didn’t let the cruel life circumstance didn’t shatter them. They did not let acid attack scars come in the way of their happily-ever-after. Now, if this isn’t true love, then what is!
