Fight against cancer is never easy. Our brave fighter Irrfan passed away after battling against his neuroendocrine tumor. Looking back here’s what Irrfan Khan shared about his wife’s unconditional support during his cancer struggle.
Sharing how his cancer battle had changed him and his family, Irrfan shared with Mumbai Mirror:
“It’s been a roller-coaster ride, a memorable one. Happy moments were underlined because of the inherent uncertainty. We cried a little and laughed a lot. We became one huge body.”
He further added how he became less judgemental as a person because things stopped mattering so much.
“You screen out noises …You are selective about what you want to filter in. I have gone through tremendous anxiety but have somehow managed to control it, then, let go. You are playing hopscotch all the time,”
While sharing how the extraordinary situation made his boys extraordinary in their own way, he shared:
“And the best part is that I’ve had all the time literally to see them evolve… A crucial time for a teenager, like the younger one. The older one isn’t a teenager anymore.”
But what touched many hearts what he said about his wife’s unconditional support. While sharing how he wanted to live for his wife Sutapa, Irrfan stated emotionally:
“What to say about Sutapa? She is there 24/7. She has evolved in care-giving and if I get to live, I want to live for her. She is the reason for me to keep at it still.”
This wasn’t the first time, we got a glimpse of how Sutapa Sikdar stood like a rock next to her husband. Earlier last year, Sutapa took to social media when they shared how the journey has been anything but easy:
Sutapa Sikdar’s note further stated,
“It seems unbelievable …never ever I realized the meaning of the word unpredictable so well…never ever I could feel peoples wishes on my bones my breath my heartbeat which helped me to stay focused and kicking.. I can’t take names because there are names and there are names I don’t even know who played angels. Sorry for not been able to answer individually but I know what you mean to us. I don’t see beyond one day and that day is today where everything seems fine. For today we go back to work, and the dance and song of life continues. Thank you for believing in your prayers.”
At IFORHER, we are in awe of Sutapa Sikdar’s undying spirit to support Irrfan Khan during his battle against the tumor. As we bid final goodbye to Irrfan, we pray for his family and loved ones.
