Captain Vikram Batra is a real hero whose courage and bravery touched millions of hearts. Bata was commissioned in the Indian Army as a Lieutenant of the 13th Battalion Jammu & Kashmir Rifles in 1997.
Later, because of his great achievements during Kargil War, he was promoted to the rank of Captain on the battlefield itself. Under his leadership, the Indian army captured point 5140. Batra’s war cry was ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’ for the capture of point 5140.
But, Captain Batra refused to stop. He volunteered to recapture point 4875, which is still touted as one of the toughest operations in mountain warfare in Indian history.
To honor Batra’s bravery, the authorities named the mountain as Batra Top.
While many are touched by the dedication and sincerity of Batra as a soldier, there is another part of Batra’s life that is equally beautiful and inspiring.

How They Met?
As shown in the movie, in real life too, Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema first met during their university days in Chandigarh. Batra was pursuing MA in English from Punjab University when he met Dimple. Though they started their journey as friends, but soon they turned into lovers and then soulmates! Eventually, they married each other. Despite, Dimple’s family disapproval about their relationship, Dimple took a stand against her family for love. She swore that if she marries, she will only marry him.
How They Got Married?
Both Dimple and Batra made frequent visits to Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar. On one such visit, during Parikrama, Batra kept walking behind Dimple holding her dupatta. After completing the Parikrama, Batra turned to Dimple and said, “Congratulations, Mrs. Batra.”
With passing time, Dimple got slightly insecure about Vikram’s constant absence. To assure her, Vikram took a blade out of his wallet, cut his thumb, and filled her maang. In that moment, Dimple was speechless and called him ‘filmy’.
The True Love: After Batra’s death, Dimple Cheema decided to stay Batra’s widow and never married anyone.
Dimple decided to dedicate her life to Captain Vikram Batra. To honor his memory, Dimple never married anyone else. 17 years on, Dimple still proudly says she loves him and teaches at a school.
