In order to fulfill his promise to Liu, just a day after her death, Xu visited a store to buy the wedding gown. He decided to bid farewell to her by getting married to her at the funeral.

While standing next to her body, Xu took the wedding vows with Liu’s corpse, which was dressed in a beautiful bridal gown surrounded by several bouquets made up of pink roses. While taking the vows, Xu said:
“Although today’s wedding is late, it has realized Yang Liu’s dream. All that I can do is to fulfill your wish and let you wear a wedding dress fulfills my wish.”
Xu went ahead to share a beautiful message for his late wife in the presence of their family members and said,
“Wife, please don’t worry! For me, the rest of my life will be in pain, but I will not give up.”
He further added:
“My wife used to say that nobody was allowed to cry should she die. I was holding back my tears on the day, but when [her body] was sent for cremation, I couldn’t fight it anymore,”
