On Tabu’s birthday, we are celebrating this phenomenal actress, who has the magical power of turning every character into a memorable one. Unlike today’s actors and actresses, Tabu had this ability to breathe life into her characters. No matter how small or big the role was, Tabu has always brought a powerful performance to the table. And, that’s why this two-time National Film Award winner and a Padma Shri recipient is hailed as the Queen of evergreen performances.
Here are some photos that show how she played every character with full conviction and hard work. There is definitely no one like her!
With Vijyapath, Tabu made her debut and won the first Filmfare for Female Debut. With Ruk Ruk Ruk, she gave us the ultimate dance number!
Post which, she gave evergreen performances that not only won the crowds but critics too. Her performances in movies like Border, Chachi 420, Hu Tu Tu are just a reminder of how there is no one like her.
With Maachis, she not only won our hearts but also won her first National award. With the unparallel ability to act with her eyes, she made the character of Vire in Maachis immortal. If there was anyone who could have done this role, it was Tabu.
Shattering the stereotypes, she rocked a pixie cut like no one else. She never shied away from experimenting with new things on the screen and pushing the envelope.
Be it playing a woman respecting traditions (in Hum Saath Saath Hai) or feminist fighting for equality (in Astitva), Tabu has done all the roles brilliantly.
And after Hum Saath Saath Hai & Astitva, came Chandni Bar. The movie won Tabu her second National Film Award.
And, then came the Namesake and Life of Pi.
Who other than Tabu could have portrayed Shakespeare’s characters so honestly?
Be it Maqbool or Haider, Tabu played the characters with so much nuance.
And, when you thought Tabu has done all. She gives you Andhadhun, A Suitable Boy, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2!
Tabu, thanks for showing us what grace, beauty, and talent look like. We hope many would seek inspiration from you and become better actors rather than becoming stars. Wish you a great birthday! And, thanks for inspiring us with your talent!
