Business tycoon Anand Mahindra has touched millions of hearts as he came forward to help 85-year-old ‘Idli Amma’, K Kamalathal in the most inspiring way!
Last year, the inspiring story of Kamalathal went viral on social media showcasing her true determination to help mankind. The story mentioned how she was selling idlis at Re 1 for over three decades now to feed the poor.
Anand Mahindra was one among many people who were impressed by Kamalthal and her courageous soul.
The 85-year-old K Kamalathal is from Vadivelampalayam village near Peru and sells idlis for just one rupee per piece with sambhar and chutney. The only reason why she never increased the price of her idlis is to make sure that daily wage workers can afford to eat without burning a hole in their pockets. This way, they can also save more money for their families.
Impressed by her great work, Anand Mahindra showed an intention to invest in her business. Earlier, he had said he would buy her an LPG burner as she was making idlis on a wood burner. After Mahindra’s tweet went viral, Bharat Gas Coimbatore offered Idli Amma a new LPG connection.
The Business Tycoon Gifted Her A New Home
Kamalathal expressed her desire to have a house. Now, Mahindra Group’s Mahindra Living Spaces worked hard to acquire land and constructing a house for Idli Amma.
‘Only rarely does one get to play a small part in someone’s inspiring story, and I would like to thank Kamalathal, better known as Idli Amma, for letting us play a small part in hers. She will soon have her own house cum workspace from where she will cook & sell idli.’ Mahindra tweeted.
