A few days back, Kareena Kapoor during a promotional event made a dumb statement that left netizens irked. While trying to explain how ‘’Laal Singh Chaddha’ could be new for fans, she used some really problematic words. While talking to News18, Kareena tried to explain why ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ would be a new experience for many Indians as ”many” would not have seen the original movie—Forrest Gump. But, as Kareena continued, she went too far when she called LSC an elitist kind of classist film.
Kareena Calling Laal Singh Chaddha: An Elitist Kind Of Classist Film
In her interview, she said, “No, because it’s an original adaptation in a different language. Our language and our sentiments are very different from theirs also. So, we’ve adapted it for our Indian screens, and I’m sure people would enjoy it. But many people still haven’t watched ‘Forrest Gump’…the masses would not have seen. It is an elitist kind of classist film. So they (Indian audience) will see it for a story, not because it’s a remake of ‘Forrest Gump’.” She was, later, schooled by the Internet for making a statement that hardly made any sense.
Kareena Crediting Herself For Setting Trend Of Getting Married In Bollywood
And now in an interview, she said that it was she who set the trend of getting married in Bollywood. She said that she got married and now everyone thinks it’s cool to get married.
She was talking about how people used to think that if an actress gets married, her career would be over. During an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kareena Kapoor said, “Of course, people were always like don’t get married it’ll be over. But I’m saying that these are things that are now of course I did and then now it’s cool to be married and now it’s fine. But the whole idea is that you have to do things when you want to do them.” She further adds“…I wanted to, I wanted to be like okay fine what will happen, it’s fine, won’t get work but I wanted to get married at that point of time and so I did it.”

Obviously, the statement irked the netizens. They called her delusional, stupid, and arrogant. A Reddit user wrote, “Actors like her should really limit themselves to acting and not showing their real personality anywhere.” Another user wrote, “Guys plz ya…I invented breathing..and now y’all are doing it..stop copying me,” One user called her, “Self-absorbed and clueless.”
One user further wrote, “It’s so easy to hate Kareena. Just watch her talk or act.” Another said, “So ironical of her to say this while literally having Sharmila Tagore as her mother-in-law. Sharmila got married at the peak of her career, and still continued to work and do amazing films. She’s so arrogant and narcissistic, I don’t even feel bad LSC flopped on her face”.
Another user on Instagram wrote, “Yes “everybody” started marrying because Kareena married Saif 🤣 actresses earlier also got married and continued working…Kajol, Aishwarya and so many more in the past also. Say I continued to be as successful as I was before…and that’s never in your hand..it’s the audience. You don’t decide that…so please don’t give so much credit to yourself.”
Taking a dig at her, one user wrote – “She’s the first woman to appear onscreen, you know? And also the first actress to be able to speak in English (even with her atrocious vocabulary and grammar). She’s also very proud of the fact that she’s the first illiterate and uneducated person in Bollywood and the first actress with an IQ less than 60,” Another user wrote, “Bollywood ko vivaah ka marg dikhane ke liye shukriya.” Another user on Instagram wrote, “I like kareena and follow her but recently i have noticed something….Why is kareena always taking credit for everything…she acts like she’s the FIRST TO DO EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! Like even if she does a bun she think she invented it and is the first to ever do a bun then everyone follows…she will do a basic role and say i was the first to do a role like this and dress like this and eat like this and work like this….bro no! You’re not! Stop taking credit for everything.”
It is quite shocking how these celebs shamelessly make tone-deaf statements and then expect the audience to shower their love over them! What do you think about this statement? Tell us in the comments below.
