Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chadda has been surrounded by endless controversies. From people protesting against the movie for its portrayal of the Indian army to netizens trending boycott calls on social media, the movie has been in news for all the wrong reasons.
In midst of protests and controversies, Kareena Kapoor Khan has requested the people not to boycott the movie.
This statement came days after she made a statement that she doesn’t take the boycott trends seriously. While talking about the viral trend of boycotting Laal Singh Chaddha, Kareena said, “There are different platforms. Everyone has an opinion. So now, if that is going to be there, then you have to learn to ignore certain things. Otherwise, it will just become impossible to live your life. And that’s why, I don’t take any of this seriously.”
With people not turning up to watch Laal Singh Chaddha in theatres, Kareena realized how she couldn’t ignore the audiences’ voices anymore. In a recent interview, RJ Siddharth Kannan asked Kareena if she was disrespectful towards the audience when she said she doesn’t take the boycott calls seriously.
While sharing her thoughts on how people reacted to her words, in a recent interview, she said, “I think it’s only a section of people that are trolling. But genuinely, I think that the love the film is getting is very different. These are just a section of people who are probably on your social media, which is probably like 1%,”
She further added that people should not boycott Laal Singh Chaddha as she claims “it’s such a beautiful film.”
“I want people to see me and Aamir (Khan) on screen. It’s been three years, we’ve waited so long. So, please don’t boycott this film, because it’s actually like boycotting good cinema. And people have worked so hard on it; we’ve had 250 people work on this film for two-and-a-half years,” she urged people to not boycott their latest release.
In a separate interview, Kareena also mentioned that stardom cannot guarantee the commercial success of a film anymore.
For the unversed, Laal Singh Chaddha is an official Hindi remake of Hollywood’s Oscar-winning 1994 film Forrest Gump, which featured Tom Hanks in the lead role. Along with Aamir Khan, the movie also stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya.
While some international media houses called the remake Laal Singh Chaddha better than the original Forrest Gump, the Indian audience refuses to agree. Many netizens and critics came forward to share how the movie left them disappointed.
