The director, Sudipto Sen, and producer, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, claim that the film is based on true events. Since the trailer’s release, the movie stirred controversies and faced a lot of criticism. Some have called the movie propaganda and have demanded the ban! Amidst controversies, the movie has managed to earn 200 Crore+ at the box office.

Even though The Kerala Story received mixed reviews, it turned out to be a blockbuster, collecting almost ₹250 crores (US$30 million) against a budget of ₹30 crores (US$3.7 million). The movie managed to become the second-highest-grosser of the year.

Now, as per recent reports, the streaming platform, Zee5 is preparing to stream The Kerala Story later this month. While we are still waiting for the official date, many sources have shared that The Kerala Story to be released on 16th February 2024 on Zee5.
