4. Chakda ‘Xpress
Anushka Sharma is set to make a comeback in Prosit Ray’s Chakda ‘Xpress, a sports drama inspired by the life of veteran Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, which will arrive on Netflix in 2023. Inspired by the journey of Jhulan Goswami, the movie captures how she moved up the ladder despite the problems created by misogynistic politics to fulfill her dream of playing cricket for India.
5. Emergency
Another highly anticipated biopic of the year is Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency. The movie is based on the life of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Not only Ranaut is playing the lead role of Indira Gandhi, she is also producing the movie, which is based on the emergency period in India between 1975-1977. Along with Kangana Ranaut, the movie also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Shreyas Talpade in significant roles.
6. The Good Maharaja
Directed by Vikash Verma, the biopic stars Sanjay Dutt as the Maharaja Jam Sahib of Nawanagar, Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, who saved several Polish children during World War II.
7. Pippa
Raja Menon’s heroic war drama stars Ishaan Khatter as Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. The movie revolves around three siblings, who participated in the Battle of Garibpur, fought during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. Along with Ishaan Khatter, the movie also stars Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli in pivotal roles in the film.
8. Sam Bahadur
Vicky Kaushal is set to portray the role of Sam Manekshaw, the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal, in an eagerly awaited biopic. The film will depict his life and the significant role he played in the Indian Army. Meghna Gulzar, who previously collaborated with Kaushal in the successful movie Raazi, is directing the film.
