While most of the parents focus on their kids’ marks, very few instill the value of kindness instead of competition in their kids. One such parent is the father of Tunisha Khushroo Poacha.
Tunisha Khushroo Poacha from Nagpur is just six-years-old. But, her age is not a reflection of how inspiring and kind she is. She had always seen her father, Khushroo, supporting the needy and underprivileged through his NGO Seva Kitchen. Khushroo not only inspired his daughter to be kind but also helped her in finding a heart-touching way to spread kindness.
Recently, when she saw him donating food and clothes to flood survivors, she had a very important question for her father. Without any hesitation, she asked him why he did not collect school bags, books or stationery for the children.
Recalling his reaction, the father Khushroo recently shared with TBI,
“I told her it was an oversight on my part and urged her to do something herself. She thought about it and proposed that she would donate schools bags to everyone.”
To which Tunisha added with a cute smile,
“My daddy gave them groceries and clothes. So I said why cannot I give them school bags?”
Though initially, her father dismissed Tunisha’s proposal as mere childish banter, soon he realized that his daughter was extremely serious. Realizing how she was committed to helping other kids, he shared:
“I asked her an exact number—100, 200, 1000 or 5000? She chose the largest number without a second thought,”
Within just two months since then, this 6-year-old with the help of her father has managed to send around 1000 bags to the NGO Goonj. Low-income government schools across Nagpur and its suburbs have received over 1800 bags.
The proud father further adds:
“Today itself we are sending 2000 bags to farmers’ children in Melghat.”
The Bags Of Kindness
Though the genesis of the bag collection initiative lies in an earlier conversation between Tunisha and her father, it was another incident that helped them turn this beautiful act of kindness into a wide-spread initiative – The Bags Of Kindness.
A while ago, Tunisha’s uncle gifted her a magic slate. As she was busy sketching, a sudden thought crossed her mind. She asked her father:
“Papa, why don’t we make such magic slates for the needy kids. They can do so much drawing even without crayons. They will have so much fun!”
It was then Khushroo pointed out that they could not make so many magic slates themselves. Realizing the issue that her father raised, Tunisha decided to come up with an alternative to help needy people. It was this time, she arrived at the initiative “The Bags of Kindness.” So, as a part of this initiative, the donors order school bags online and the courier to their address.
The success of the endeavor has now aspired little Tunisha to continue it further on a larger scale. The Class-1 student expressed not only her immense joy after sending the schoolbags but also how she wants to make it bigger and better:
“I wish to give them water bottles and tiffin boxes after this.”
Tunisha’s desire to bring change to other’s life is not only inspirational but worth applauding. At such a young age, her desire to make other’s life better is the hope we need in today’s self-centered world.
We also want to applaud her father’s contribution to raising such a real hero.
Recalling Sudha Murty’s one of the great parenting advice to new era parents, she shared:
“Love and affection and teaching by example. Children don’t need heroes outside the home; they absorb a lot of what their parents do”
We believe Khushroo has no stone unturned in making his daughter absorb his act of kindness.
