February 22, 2023

Bump on nose piercing: A bump on nose (or any other body part) piercing can happen due to many factors. In case you are struggling with one, scroll down to read how you can treat them in different ways to get rid of it.

Bump on nose piercing is typical and can be brought on by a variety of factors, including touching the piercing, accidentally bumping it when donning or removing clothing, or sleeping on the nose ring. After a few days, the bump usually disappears on its own. You can utilize materials you obtained from your piercer, including sea salt scrubs, as well as everyday items like baking soda to treat the bump and hasten the healing process. Rarely, a bump may be a sign of an infection, in which case you should consult your piercer or a doctor to determine the best course of action.

How To Treat Bump On Nose Piercing

There are different ways to treat the bump on a nose piercing. It can be treated through medication, as well as home remedies.

1.  Clean The Piercing

Typically, new piercings need to be cleaned twice to three times every day. You can get a more detailed recommendation from your piercer. Always wash your hands well with warm water and liquid soap before handling your nose piercing for any reason and use a paper towel to dry your hands after that. You will probably be advised against cleaning piercings with products that include triclosan because they can dry up the skin around it.

2. Try Salt Soak

After your piercing, your piercer ought to have given you a salt solution. If your piercer did not provide you with saline solution, you can prepare your own by combining a cup of warm water with an eighth of a teaspoon of salt. Regularly soak your piercing to prevent swelling and remove a nose ring bulge. Spend 15 to 20 minutes with your nose submerged in water. It could be more comfortable to dip a cotton ball in sea salt and apply it on your nose ring bump for 15 to 20 minutes.

3. Put On A Hot Compress

Heat and pressure will aid in the progressive drainage of any trapped fluid under the skin, which can result in a bump. You can make a quick warm water compress by soaking a clean washcloth in hot water, placing it on the piercing, and holding it there for a few minutes with light pressure. The bump shouldn’t be forced to drain because doing so can cause more inflammation and scarring.

4. Apply Cortisone Cream

Most drug stores sell cortisone cream, which you can buy. It can aid in reducing the swelling that causes a bump on the nose ring. To lessen swelling, you can apply the lotion to the region around your nose ring.  Ensure correct application, and carefully follow the directions on the cream you purchase.

5.  Use Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea Tree includes natural antifungal, antiseptic, and antibacterial agents. Tea tree oil is particularly effective in drying up a bump from a nose piercing. Additionally, it promotes recovery, prevents infection, and lessens inflammation. Reactions to tea tree oil are possible. Before applying it to an open wound, such as a nose piercing, if this is your first time using it, do a patch test.

6. Inflammatory Drug Treatment

Anti-inflammatory drugs that are available over the counter can be used to treat the bump and swelling around the nose. This typically works for lumps and edema brought on by trauma, such as a piercing. If you are already on any prescription medications, be sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Make sure that over-the-counter medications won’t negatively interact with your current prescriptions.

These ways may help you heal your bump on nose piercing. In case it doesn’t heal, please consult the doctor to seek the expert advise at the earliest.
