In recent times, with numerous problematic movies, Bollywood has exhibited a lack of concern for quality content. Apart from a few exceptions, much of the content emerging from Bollywood is surprising, prompting us to question the reasoning behind such productions.
Driven solely by numbers, Bollywood appears excessively focused on box-office collections, disregarding the importance of a well-crafted script and an engaging movie. From dull scripts to regressive and toxic characters, there are certain movies that, in our opinion, should have been discarded during the discussion phase.
1. Student of the Year 2 (2019)
The movie’s plot makes no sense. Two women – Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey – fight the eternal female battle over one man – Tiger Shroff. With no focus on education, every character is dressed like a Chanel model. Just because it was backed by Dharma Production with “nepo” kids, it doesn’t mean the world can’t live without this stupid movie.
2. Kalank (2019)
Another multi-starrer by Karan Johar that no one asked for. It is one of those movies where the makers gave more importance to clothes than the script. The movie is located in some undefined years in British rule so no one can really guess when exactly the movie is happening. Even with actors like Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, and Sanjay Dutt, the makers couldn’t save the movie!
3. Bharat (2019)
This movie had so many problems – but the biggest one was the script itself. Though the story is meant to be about the journey of our country, the only glory we see is that of Salman Khan. The movie is all about Salman Khan with the few women surrounding him playing side characters. We just have one phrase for the movie – “Not Required”
4. Kabir Singh (2019)
This movie is just an ugly reminder of how Bollywood shamelessly celebrates toxic characters as heroes! From promoting violence to toxic behaviors, this movie shot women’s empowerment in the face. While Bollywood may have justified the harassment and toxicity in the name of “plot building” or profits, the reality is our society never needed this movie.
5. Radhe (2021)
Radhe is a sequel to the 2009 blockbuster Wanted that no one wanted. This movie is another loud, numbing pointless paean to the cult of Salman Khan, who once again plays superhero and savior. “Not required” is our only judgement!
6. Coolie No. 1 (2020)
This remake of Govinda’s Coolie No. 1 wasn’t even close to its original version. Makers need to understand that fancy locations and costumes aren’t the only things that make a movie. Seriously, another movie that was not at all required!
7. Baaghi 3 (2020)
Let’s agree that Baaghi 3 had nothing new to impress the audience and the critics. With a pretty similar storyline to Baaghi 1 & Baaghi 2, there was hardly anything to watch in this movie! Wish someone could have told the makers that a great physique doesn’t make a movie good! Acting, Screenplay, Dialogue do!
8. Love Aaj Kal 2 (2020)
Felt like the makers spent more time creating unnecessary hype about the relationship between Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aryan than working on the movie. Maybe that’s the reason why this movie feels like torture and a sheer waste of time and money!
9. Khali Peeli (2020)
Do we need to tell you, why we didn’t need this movie? From the problematic song to the awful acting skills of Ananya Pandey and Ishaan Khattar, there is hardly anything that doesn’t disappoint the audience. Another movie that we could have done without!
10. Dabang 3 (2019)
Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey returned for the third time. But who wanted him back? Dabangg 3 is the flashback story of Chulbul Pandey which no one wanted to know. Isn’t it time Salman realized that the audience just cannot be served any shit he thinks is okay?
11. Sadak 2 (2020)
Just like Kalank, Sadak 2 is an ideal example of how makers can’t serve anything relevant to the Indian audience anymore. Even with the most popular Bollywood actors like Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, and Aditya Roy Kapoor, the movie just collapsed at the box office. The movie was a disaster because it lacked everything – poor screenplay, unengaging script, and lack of direction!
12. Race 3 (2018)
A film that we wish to erase from our memory is this! Compared to Race 1 and Race 2, this one starring Salmaan Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Daisy Shah was an absolute disaster.
13. Housefull 4 (2019)
Some franchises should stop right after the first film, and Housefull is one of them. Its fourth installment was a reincarnation comedy, but the audience did not find it funny.
14. Animal (2023)
From a bad screenplay to a lack of character development, numerous blunders, a wasted talented star cast, and a lack of emotional connection, the movie is a complete disaster. In an attempt to lure the audience and boost box-office collections, the makers included endless misogyny and violence without a robust storyline. The movie becomes excessively gory and mindless, to the extent that even men have taken a stand against this toxic saga. It’s yet another film created solely for box-office collections with zero entertainment value.
Do let us know how many of them have you watched and what you feel about them. We would love to know!
