Despite all the controversies surrounding the film, it hit the theaters on May 5 and received a mixed response from the audience. However, that didn’t stop it from earning a whopping Rs. 8 crores on its opening day, securing the fifth-highest opening for a Hindi film in 2023, just behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.
And, the film showed tremendous growth on its seventh day at the box office. It reportedly minted a whopping Rs. 12 crores, bringing the total collection of The Kerala Story to an impressive Rs. 80.86 crores! It looks like the film is still going strong, and we can’t wait to see where it eventually ends up. About Kerala Story
For the unversed, the movie follows the journey of Adah Sharma, who plays a Hindu woman from Kerala that’s abducted and brainwashed into converting to Islam and joining the ISIS Terrorist Organization in Syria. The director, Sudipto Sen, and producer, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, claim that the film is based on true events. But the controversy has been brewing since the trailer’s release. Some have called the movie propaganda and have demanded the ban!Â
