Since time immemorial, women have been raised to compete against each other. But in recent times, the concept of sisterhood has brought new hope to the women’s community.
While men try to cover for each other, there are many women who try to pull down other women. But thankfully, we have some real-life examples when women supported each other and showed the world that a woman can be another woman’s support too!
1. When Priyanka Chopra Stood For Meghan Markle On Racism
During the interview with The Sunday Times, Priyanka spoke about the criticism Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, faces. While being a great supporter of Meghan, she quoted,
“I have seen that and it’s really unfortunate. But if there’s anyone who can handle it, it’s her. The beauty of Meg is that she’s been herself through all of this. A lot of people got to know her after everything, but I knew her before [she started dating Harry] and she’s the same chick. Now she’s got a real platform, she talks about the same things she always did”.
2. When Nirmala Sitharaman Stood Up For A Female Reporter
Recently, during the post-Budget press conference, Nirmala Sitharaman exhibited another great example of sisterhood. During the conference, a female reporter mentioned she had two questions to ask the finance minister. To this, the chief of Press Information Bureau (PIB) KS Dhatwalia said that she can ask only one as others are there as well. At that moment, Finance Minister took a stand for the female reporter and interjected. She said:
“Why did you say that only to her? You didn’t stop the guys.”
3. When Priyanka Chopra Stood For Meghan Markle On Her Achievements:
In a separate interview with Wendy Williams, Priyanka Chopra supported Meghan Markle once again. Wendy said, “You are also friends with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s girlfriend-” But, before she could even complete the sentence, Priyanka interrupted the host saying,
“Also Meghan Markle, Actress – Suits, her achievements,” Priyanka made it a point that she highlights her friend’s great career and achievements.
4. When Suchitra Krishnamoorthy Stood Up For Priyanka Chopra Against Body-Shamers
When Priyanka Chopra-Jonas donned a fringe gown, many netizens were quick to body-shame her. One user wrote,
“I wish somebody has stapled your dress..your nude body is lyk a nightmare (sic).” while the other said, “She looks like a porn star” while another commented, “I think you need surgery to lift them up.”
But thanks to actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi for standing up for Priyanka and giving it back to trolls a be-fitting reply. She wrote,
“Was so upset to see this post on insta by Wendel Rodrigues who’s work I otherwise have a modicum of respect for. I think the fact that Priyanka is not trying to hide her belly with her clutch is what makes this pic so beautiful. Makes her the rockstar she is. Her confidence an inspiration to every woman. Women have been so enslaven by men’s opinion of how women should look this photograph of Priyanka to me at the world’s most publicized event is the height of liberation. You go girl and keep rocking it. I was never a fan of the lady but this pic has surely made me one.”
“So dear ugly men get this. We are not our bodies. We are our abilities. We are our talent. We are our own rock stars. Would anybody have dared comment on a mans belly or appearance like this? God knows we see grotesque images of them everyday and all the time. More power to you #PriyankaChopra.”
5. How this granddaughter helped her grandmother to set up a successful business at age of 72
“3 years ago when my granddaughter said that she wanted to learn knitting, I was so excited– nobody had ever wanted to learn anything from me! So I started teaching her. One of those days, suddenly, Kiku said, ‘Nani, you should be paid for the work you do,’ and I started laughing. She suggested setting up a business together.
I said, ‘Mere sweaters ke liye paise kaun dega beta’, and my husband even said ‘Nobody will buy these products.’ My entire family laughed it off; no one took it seriously. But Kiku was adamant and refused to listen. She said, ‘Nani, main apko pura support dungi.’ She started posting pictures of my sweaters and scarves on social media and guess what? Within 24 hours, we received an order! My black scarf was sold for Rs.600– that was the first money I ever earned!”
6. When Renuka Shahane stood for prostitutes and their dignity:
Renuka Shahane took up to social media to share her views on Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s tweet wherein she (Suchitra) compared sex workers to criminals. In her tweet, Suchitra wrote,
“Amma always said, Money is not everything. Even criminals and whores have money. What matters is not money but character and integrity. I truly understand her words only today. Jeez I’ve never felt more proud of my middle class roots.”
Reading this tweet, Renuka shared her views in the most delightful and adorable way:
No disrespect to your Amma @suchitrak but as women let’s try & correct the injustice that our traditions have imposed on whores. We castigated whores while letting off their customers who are leading “respectful” lives! Let’s not put whores & criminals in one bracket at least 1/4 https://t.co/qQkwPSGztZ

Whores sell what is theirs. Criminals take what is others. Whores are often pushed into their profession due to human trafficking at ages as young as 7. Does any child have the right to say “no” at that age? Whores are pushed into prostitution by people they trust explicitly 2/4 https://t.co/qQkwPSGztZ

Whores are abused, raped, tortured, drugged, given hormonal injections at a very early age & then raped relentlessly throughout their professional lives. Most of what should be their earnings is taken away by pimps & middlemen or middle women! 3/4 https://t.co/qQkwPSGztZ

7. When Kareena Praised Priyanka For Putting India On Global Map
Kareena and Priyanka have always been pitted against each other since the 2000s. Although they contributed to the rivalry by commenting on each other in the past with time they have grown out of it. In one of the interviews, Kareena actually praised her for putting India on a global map. In her interview, she mentioned:
“I really respect Priyanka for having that zest. She is a global icon and probably the only mainstream actress to put India on a global map. In fact, I feel that because of her, we are being recognised outside India as well.”
8. When 94-year-old entrepreneur was encouraged by her daughter to set up a business
It all started in 2016 when Harbhajan’s daughter asked her if she had any regrets in life, to which she expressed that she never earned a penny for herself. That’s when Raveena, her daughter suggested her to start selling her signature ‘Besan ki Barfi’. Raveena helped Harbhajan in turning her dream into reality. And, now Harbhajan is the proud owner of ‘Besan ki Burfi’.
Women are not always women’s biggest enemy! Sometimes, they are the biggest allies. Real queens pull each other up so that we all move up!
