1. Brahmastra Part One: Shiva
Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Brahmastra became the center of many controversies. From Ranbir Kapoor’s beef video to nepotism, the movie stirred many controversies. Some Hindu communities were so infuriated by Ranbir’s remarks about enjoying beef that they protested against his entry into the Ujjain temple. Ranbir Kapoor also received criticism for body-shaming his pregnant spouse, Alia Bhatt.
2. Kaali Poster
A single poster from the movie Kaali caused nationwide controversy. The depiction of Goddess Kaali smoking a cigarette in the poster offended many people. Many people protested against the release of the movie and demanded harsh punishment for the filmmaker Leena Manimekalai for hurting religious sentiment. After the protests, the movie maker was the target of numerous FIRs and protests.
3. The Kashmir Files– IFFI Row
During the recent International Film Festival of India in Goa, the head of the Jury, Nadav Lapid, referred to The Kashmir Files as “propaganda, vulgar.” During his speech, Nadav Lapid said, “All of us were disturbed and shocked by the 15th film, The Kashmir Files. That felt like a propaganda, vulgar movie, inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival. I feel totally comfortable to openly share these feelings here with you at this stage. In the spirit of this festival, can surely also accept a critical discussion, which is essential for art and life.”
The criticism left the internet divided as some agreed with Nadav while many including Anupam Kher and Vivek Agnihotri criticized Nadav for calling TKF a vulgar movie.
4. Laal Singh Chaddha
Aamir Khan Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha became the center of many controversies. From people blaming Aamir Khan for ruining classic Forrest Gump to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s old viral video asking the audience not to watch nepo-kid movies to Aamir Khan being called anti-nationalist, Laal Singh Chaddha faced many boycott calls over the internet.

5. Ranveer Singh’s Photoshoot
Ranveer Singh became the focus of massive controversy after he posed naked for a magazine photoshoot earlier this year. After the photos went viral, the FIR was filed under many IPC Sections, including 292 (sale of obscene books, etc.), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and provisions of the Information Technology Act.
6. Jacqueline Fernandez’s Involvement With Conman Sukesh
In Rs. 200 Crores extortion case against conman Sukesh Chandrashekar, ED submitted a supplemental charge sheet naming Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused. While the con artist Sukesh is currently in jail, Jacqueline is out on bail as investigations are still underway.
