Dimple Kapadia, a renowned and accomplished actress, recently caused a stir when her past interview resurfaced, wherein she openly shared her thoughts on working with Nana Patekar. In her candid remarks, Dimple referred to Nana as “obnoxious” and hinted at a concealed “dark side.” Let’s delve into the details of this viral interview.
For those unfamiliar with their professional history, Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia have collaborated on several successful films, including Prahaar: The Final Attack, Angaar, and Krantiveer. However, it was their on-screen chemistry in the 2010 movie Tum Milo Toh Sahi that garnered significant attention.
During an exclusive NDTV interview, Dimple was asked to reflect on her experience working with Nana Patekar, and true to her nature, she didn’t hold back. Without hesitation, she boldly stated, “I think he is obnoxious.” When pressed to clarify whether this was a positive or negative assessment, Dimple initially hesitated, expressing her thoughts with a few hesitant “umm”s.
But she didn’t stop there. Dimple went on to provide further insight into the complexities of Nana’s persona. She expounded, “In a good way, and a bad way. As far as his talent goes, there’s no match to him. He is an extremely talented man. When I see talent like him, sau khoon bhi maaf hai. Sab kuch maaf hai. Meri jaan bhi lelo (A hundred murders, everything is forgiven. In fact, take my life too). That’s the effect he has on me. But, as a person, with me, he has been very, very nice, kind, and a good friend. But I have also seen his terrible side…the dark side. We all have a dark side which is nicely and safely kept aside.”
Though no one is sure if what Dimple said was in reference to allegations of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar that blew up the #MeToo movement in 2018, but it made many wonder what Dimple meant by this comment.
Dimple Kapadia began her Bollywood journey with the film Bobby, opposite Rishi Kapoor, at the tender age of 15. Just before the release of Bobby, she took a hiatus from the industry to marry Bollywood superstar Rajesh Khanna, with a significant age difference of 30 years between them, as Dimple was only 15 at the time.
After nine years of marriage, Dimple separated from Khanna and returned with her two daughters to her parents’ house. Two years later, she made a remarkable comeback with the iconic film Saagar, directed by Ramesh Sippy, starring alongside Kamal Haasan and Rishi Kapoor. Throughout her illustrious career, Dimple has graced the silver screen with memorable performances in movies such as Jaanbaaz, Rudaali, Lekin, Gardish, Krantiveer, Luck by Chance, Finding Fanny, Kaash, Zakhmi Aurat, Dil Chahta Hai, Tenet, and many more.
